I have looked all over the place and the obsession with finding a 2 or 3 inch body lift for my 1992 3.9L 2WD Automatic Dakota is driving me nuts! LOL Does ANYone know if there is a place that carries body lifts for this model and make for my Dakota?

The ’87-‘96 2wd and 4x4s have the same bodies, (ie cab and bed). The 4x4 body lift kit will fit your 2wd

Note: I very frequently get email from people asking about the lift kit in my
’88. Typically, I will NOT respond the emails (about 90%) that ask questions
I’ve already covered on my web pages (ie. Where did you get the kit?, Who
makes it?, How much did it cost?, What modifications did you have to make to get it to fit your truck?. How hard was it to install? What problems did you
encounter? etc, etc...)

Isn't there linkage and so forth that I need to worry about though?

I’m about 90% sure that he automatic shifter linkage is the same. JoeE can verify that. You obviously don’t have to worry about a transfer case shifter.

Sounds like it should work ok. Do you have any suggestions for suspension lifts, if I decide to go that route?

Hows it goin? Good to see another Dakota getting work here. Walt is right. The kit for the 4x4s will work. Youll have to drop the fan shroud a couple inches. I did it by cutting the top of mine just under the upper supports and using metal strips and 4 bolts to hold it up.

The bumpers will need to be realigned. I just got mine where I wanted them and welded them to the frame. Has worked very well.

Steering shaft needs to be lengthened. Just a simple metal bar3/4in or so cut to length and bolted in place has worked for me now for about 4 years.

Tranny linkage on mine didnt need chaging. Maybe yours will differ, I doubt, but mine worked

Good Luck.

OK. I atleast have some confirmation that it can be done now. heh. I guess until then I'm just going to try and find some beefier looking tires and wheels to wear on it. Running 225/75/15 on it right now, but will probably look for something that will get it closer to a prerunner look, before I have the money to lift my new toy. I seem to have quite a bit or clearance all around with just the stock 2WD suspension. Any suggestions there?
