Subject: TrueSpeed or something better? 4.11gears IP: Logged
Message: I just got new gears (4.11) and with my 33 inch tires my speedometer is off by 5-6 miles per hour. It reads 60 when it should read 65-66.
I know I can get a TrueSpeed to fix this but if I'm going to spend the money is some thing else I can get that will recalibrate that plus give me some more horsepower or something?
Any help is appreciated
thanks
Bill
4.11 gears ROCK! totally made up for the lost power with 3.55. I originally got 4.56 and the RPMS were way too high at 70mph close to 2600 but the installer screwed them up so when I got new ones, I dropped down to 4.11s. Best mod so far. The engine no longer shifts at the slighest incline. I'll post MPG differences here in another week once I can drive it normally

Message: I'm not sure if this will apply to you, since I have a 2004 4.7 V8, but here's my info...I added 33's to my truck a few weeks ago. I called the dealer I bought it from to ask this very question. They were able to reset the pinion factor in the computer to account for the bigger tires. They needed the rotations per mile for the tire in question. I called Interco, they called the tech. folks and called me back w/ the info. I used an on line calculator at Tyres International and my calculator at home and got differing numbers, so I figured I'd go w/ the manufacturer's spec.
Oh ya...$37...1/2 hour shop time for 10 min. work.

Message: So you do that a couple times and youve bought yourself a Truspeed it sounds like.

Message: Superchips power programer gives you more power and you can adjust your tire size. I have 4.11s and 33" TSLs and I adjusted the tire size so my spedometer reads correctly. Spend $400 and get more bang for your buck then any other mod I have done.

Message: Now if only they would make a Max tuner for the 4.7 we
all would be happy. I'm running 33's and I think I'm off
by about 5-6 also. It's slim pickin's when it comes to the
4.7 for some reason. The PCM is just jewish I guess
