How did you figure that out?
Also, I thought no one was building lifts because of the rack and pinion steering. How does changing break components resolve this issue? Please tell me more as I'll do this if it works. Surprised Rancho isn't promoting it with the addition of these parts.
02 Brake parts?

I thought the problem with the lift was because of the newly designed spindles the 03 and 04 Daks use...

THE ONLY DIFFERENT BETWEEN 03/04 AND 02 IS THE STEERING KNUCKLE WHERE CALIPER BOLTS ON ALL OTHER PART ARE THE SAME THE RANCHO KIT COMES WITH A NEW KNUCKLES WITH THE SUSPENION LIFT YOU DON'T DO ANY THING WITH THE RACK-N-PINON I DID ALOT OF RESEARCH WITH A BUDDY AT DODGE BEFORE I DID MY WIFE TRUCK IF YOU NEED PART # I GOT THEM

So if I buy the above mentioned parts, only in the 2002 versions, And the 2002 Rancho Suspension lift kit, I can put the Rancho kit on my 2004 Quad cab by simply using the 2002 brake parts as replacements for my 2004 parts? Just trying to clearify for myself...
How much does this parts swap add to the cost of the lift?
How difficult is the kit to install?
I did a trailmaster on a Toyota before, but that required very minimal cutting of a bracket tab.
How much did you pay for the Rancho Kit?
How big of a tire can you now run? Stock 16" rims?

YES YOUR CORRECT USE 02 PARTS WITH A 02 RANCHO KIT TO WORK ON YOUR 04. THE KIT COST 1548 WHICH INCLUDED SHOCKS AND AROUND 300 FOR ALL THE BRAKE PARTS THE KIT IS VERY EASY TO INSTALL YOU HAVE TO CUT PART OF TRANNY CROSS MEMBER BRACKETS ON THE FRAME WITH A TORCH OR SAWSALL AND GRIND THEM SMOOTH IT TOOK ME AND ANOTHER FRIEND ABOUT 4.5 HRS REMIND YOU THAT WE ARE MECHANICS WITH A LIFT AT HOME AND ALL THE TOOLS WE NEED!! WE ALSO DID BODY LIFT A COUPLE DAYS LATER ABOUT 2HRS WITH A STOCK RIM YOU CANNOT PUT ANY BIGGER TIRE ON BECAUSE THE TIRE WILL HIT THE UPPER CONTROL ARM I COULDN'FIND ANY RIM I LIKED SO I MADE AN ADAPTER TO USE A CHEVY 6 BOLT 16X8 MICKEY THOMPSON RIM I HAVE 305/70/16 MAXUS BUCKSHOT IM LOOKING FOR RIMS 16X10 WITH 5"BACKSPACE SO I CAN RUN 315/85/16 ANY MORE QUESTION JUST ASK!!!!

So no 33's on stock rims even w/ the Rancho Kit...Bummer. Does it matter that I have 16" rims?
If not, then I'm guessing no 33's w/ just a body lift?

with a body lift you can run 33 on stock rim with sus lift the tire is to close to steering knuckle

the part # for the rotors 488-6645, calipers442-3116m and442-3117m these numbers are NAPA #//// banjo bolt 6504019,caliper support spring 52010170,right splash shield 52008990,left splash shield 52008991, these part # are dodge # you need 2 of each part for the banjo bolt and caliper support spring need any more info just ask

Ok thanks for the info charlie b but i was wondering if you have to use stock calipers and rotors or can u use aftermarket ones like going with a bigger rotor for better braking after u install bigger tires ok thanks again its really appreciated

HELLO just a few questions for you old timer fans of the dakota
looking to purchase a 2002 Dodge Dakota Crew Cab can anyone tell me how easy it is to get kits for the vehicle...
what is the differance between a body lift and a suspension lift and what is the pro and cons of each???
also how well does the dakota v8 engine match up to say pulling a trailer with possibly two snowmobiles on them? does it have enough guts..

Jim, the 4.7 has plenty of power to tow a couple sleds however I have 265/75/16 tires on mine which are marginally taller than stock and its border line towing a light load in overdrive. Truck really feels like it needs more gear. Try to find one with the taller gears, I think that would be 3:92's?
