DAMN IT WHERE IS UPS!?
Last I heard they didn't fix the alignment problem that dpkerns has. Once they fix that it's supost to ship out. But I'm loosing faith in there shipping skills because I still haven't recieved my nerf bars. Although they might come today. Today is the last day.. Then I invest in some C4 :-) MUAHAH AH AH AH AHAAAA oh.. umm... oops ;-) that wasn't supost to slip.
Seriously though I should have it installed this weekend.. It'll probably take Friday & Saturday. And I will have pictures up the same day.

Message: C4? BOOM!!! LOL... I know whatcha mean. I haven't ordered yet and I am feeling your pain! Definately want the alignment thing straightened out(no pun intended) before you get your lift so you don't eat up new tires in 1K miles and have frontend parts wearing out at the speed of light:) That was the only concern I had about this lift so I really hope they get it figured out soon. Otherwise I will skip it for now and wait for some more R & D to occur so I am not taking off suspension parts 6 months down the road and replacing them with new and improved parts:) I really want a suspension lift but not at the sacrafice of quality and durability.
I look forward to seeing those nerf bars too! I would just paint them to match the body and save the cost on chroming, but I have no chrome on my truck and I like the monochrome look.

2Thextrm actually the nerfs ended up comming in powercoated black so I'm going to look how those are and then I might have them painted to match the body color. I'll have to see how they look on. But I really doubt I'm going to leave um black either painted Graphite or Chromed. My debate is because I'm not sure what I'm going to do w/ my front bumper. Once TrailReady finishes theres I'm going to get that and I really like the rhino liner but I don't think it'd look good no the front. So I guess I'd have to paint that Graphite as well. Heh well now that I typed it it seems like a much easier decision. :-) OK Graphite Nerfs .. maybe chrome *DAMN IT back to the same delema* GAH!! help me out guys..
QC Graphite in color should I go w/ Chrome or Graphite Nerfs?

Message: So I E-Mailed this truckin suspention today and asked them about their lifts for 2000 and up Dakotas. He told me that they have only sold 2 so far and have not had any feed back positive or negitive. I am a little nervous to go out and buy this kit just yet. I aslo asked them (in a different e-mail) if they will garuntee that the truck will still align after the lift is installed and I still have not received a response. Has anyone heard anything at all about this lift? Any one have any more pictures of this lift or more detailed info then what is on their website? What happened to Knobby, Isnt he supposed to get one? Thanks to all who reply. I am ready to get this lift, I am justnot sure that I want to cut it up if this lift is no good.....

Yea that scared me also I was just going to go out & buy some of the new Pro-Comp shocks if I was short 2 but I totally forgot the front suspension uses drop down brackets. Yes I know not the first choice there the installer and I are going to see if we could use longer shocks there and if that's possible I'll be picking up more then just mudflaps & tires from 4wheelparts.
Well..... The wheels I'd LIKE to run cost $230 EACH!!!! so I'm going to stick w/ my stock 16x8's for now and maybe I'll run into just over a grand in the future that will let me upgrade.

Message: I like the BFG Muds better then the Procomps. The Procomps don't have the Sidewall protection that the BFGs do, and the BFGs are the smoothest rolling off road tires out there. If you get the BFGs, make sure when they mount them that the valve stem goes between the OO in Goodrich, that is how BFG have the tires balanced at the factory, and will be the smoothest rolling on the rim. I do remember a few things from the BFG Cert.

But I'll take Hawk's word that the Procomps work well too. I just like the look of the BFG better. ;o)

Message: Agreed Blizz. Pro Comps are as good, BUT, BFG DEFINITELY has it in the looks department. Well, Except for my X-Terrains. Hehe, still have people stopping me to ask about them. You should see the heads turn on the beach. You can literally see the mouths hanging open. I'm not big on the vanity thing (prefer function over looks usually) but man, it is a cool feeling. When Dan but the new BFG MT's on his truck when we lifted it, I was really upset because now its going to be a tough decision what to get when its time to replace my XT's.

Rancho's 3 inch susp lift for 97-99's fit 33's with no rubbing according to the article's I read where they did the lift. Based on that, 35x12.50's on 15x8 rims should fit ok with a 4.5 inch lift.

4WheelParts has the buy 3 pro comp tires and get the 4th one free this month so I'd compare their prices to discount tires and see if they are still cheaper. I'd think you'd want the better procomp tire. I have the pro comp all terrain tires on my 99 dak 4x4 and they are really good. On and off road. Way better then the original wrangler tires.

Message: 35's fit under a 5.5" tuff country lift for street use but will rub some in heavy offroading. I'd say you'd be safe with the 6" lift on stock 15x8 rims. You may be able to tweak the torsion bars on the 4.5" lift up to about 5" and clear them, but for 35's the best bet is to pay the extra $100 for the 6" lift or plop down $150 for the 2" body lift in addition to the 4.5" suspension lift.
But hey why not go crazy 6" suspension and 3" body and 38's .......hehe.... Oh if I only had money.

Message: BTW: Hawkeye
What is your opinion on the BFG AT's you used to run -vs.- the BFG mud terrains on Dans truck -vs- the procomps at's and XT' you are running on your Dak and Durango now.
The reason I'm asking is I like the look of the BFG mud terrains and how good they pull off-road. I do a lot of highway miles on the weekends (125miles each way) and my offroad time is small. Usually I only get to go camping and off roading 4-6 times a year. That being said, I need highway manners over traction. My experience with BFG muds is my friend had them on his toyota and he didn't take the best care of them (balancing and rotating) and they hummed real bad and made his steering wheel shimmy constantly down the highway. I don't want to have this same problem with my Dak.
Is there a noticible noice difference in the BFG A/T vs M/T. Any input on your procomps is also welcomed.
Sorry for being so wordy

Message: 10 inch wide rims will make an unbeleivable differance in the way a tire fits or not.
Corey, I have had the BFG AT's & MT's and currently have the Pro Comp X-Terrains, and have Pro Comp All terrains on my wifes 4x4 Durango. Here is how I would break them down.
BFG AT - Extraordinary All purpose tire. Great on road manners, great off road in almost any terrain except really soupy mud.
BFG MT - Great off road manners. Good on road manners for such an aggressive tire. Not quite as good on road as the AT's. Better off road in really loose mud.
Pro Comp AT's - EXCELLENT tire on road, especially in bad weather. Great off road traction except in really bad mud. Not quite as aggressive as BFG AT's, but VERY good in sand.
Pro Comp MT's - Same as BFG MT, except slightly better on road manners due to center tread block siping. BFG has slightly better looks due to sidewall tread blocks.
Pro Comp X-Terrains - EXCELLENT on and off road tire. More aggressive than an AT. Great in any terrain. Not quite as good in soupy mud as an MT, due to the tread blocks being closer together, but almost. Better on road manners than an MT. Great in wet weather on road, more like an AT. Good for the person who see's a good deal of on road time but needs something fairly aggressive for off road.
"Disclaimer": These are my thoughts based on my personal experience with all the above and a few other brands. They are not to be construed as fact in any way shape or form. I have personally had 4 sets of BFG AT's, 2 sets of BFG MT's, currently the Pro Comp AT's and XT's, on 7 different fullsize 4x4 trucks. Have also had Goodyear's, Survivor's, and Baja MT's.
Have driven on Goodyear MT's, and MT/R's on other trucks in the military and work as well. I drive on road every day and run through every rain puddle, mud puddle, ditch, dirt/muddy road, and sand dune I can find. All my experience is in the South in FL, GA, and the Carolina's. No snow experience. No rock climbing. Plenty of mud, sand, and dirt.
