Subject: Lifting a 97 Dak IP: Logged
Message: I have a 97 4WD Dakota. I currently have the stock wheels and 31x10.50x15 tires. I would like to put 33x12.50x15 on it with little to no trimming if possible. I know I need new wheels, at least 15x8.5 I believe, but what size and type lift would you recommed. A body lift is about all I can afford but I'm pretty clueless as to how good body lifts are or the work involved in putting one in. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Message: Body lifts are generally good in my opinion, i dont have one on my truck to be honest, but i know many who do, body lifts usually run anywhere between $150 and $300, they come in graphite blocks or aluminum blocks... i would prefer the aluminum, (stronger) most 4wheel shops do the entire thing, for usually around $400 to $700 with the body lift cost included

Message: I want to do as little trimming as possible, and i know i'm going to need new wheels. I know nothing about the backspacing of wheels, but I assume that the more back spacing the farther the wheel will stick out, and thus less trimming....any info/corrections on this would be great. thanks for all the help so far

Message: You should only need maybe 1.5-2inches of extra clearance... eagle wheels has several wheels that fit Dakotas some of which are 15x8 with -18-30mm backspacing.. that should give you the clearance, if you want a 15x10 they will usually be right around -72mm.. but with only a 3inch body lift mind you, that will have your wheels sticking out 2-3 inches if you have a 2000+ Dakota you will need a 16x8 and eagle wheels does not have many of those, try american racing for those or whichever wheel company you prefer
