Subject: Blocks, add a leaf, or shackles?
IP: Logged

Message:
Which one of these would be best for me? I have a 2000 4WD QC 4.7 that I am going to do a torsion lift on in front. Ride quality does matter to me. I do tow a boat (about 3000 pounds). The stock springs do just fine with that load. I am leaning toward blocks. I hear I lose strenght and towing capacity with the shackles. And has for the add a leaf, someone told me the ride is very harsh. Any comments? Where can I get the blocks for my 2000 4wd?.....HELP

Add A leaf is not a harsh ride. It is the way to go or the Roadmaster active suspension.

Blocks are going to give you axle wrap, and I have broken blocks in the past, shackles can have some affects on handling as well. I would go with the add a leafs, it will stiffen up some, but with towing a boat, i wouldnt worry about it.

I had 1.5" blocks and I replaced them with add-a-leafs for the extra towing stability. By cranking the torsion bars you are making the front ride stiffer so by adding the add-a-leafs the rear now matches the front. You will need new U-bolts for add-a-leafs or blocks so go with the add-a-leafs.

We used the ones that are made for Toyotas.
Same size sping width.
They will look at you funny if you ask for some for a Dak.

Actually I just installed the Fabtech add-a-leafs on my 01 4x4 QC. They are listed for the 2wd but the rear suspension is the same as a 4wd. I've had them on the truck for about 2 weeks now and they haven't given me any problems.

Later,

2001 Patriot Blue SLT Quad Cab 4x4, 4.7 V-8, K&N air filter, new Moog upper ball joints, Powerslot rotors, Hawk pads, Fabtech Add-A-Leafs, and a 3" PA body lift.

Lol Perpetrate is right...because i asked them. i checked out the fab techs, how muc did they cost and who did you order from. just wondering, i did a shackle hanger combo and torsion bars, had to reverse my hanger then install my shackle...cutting the hangers off sucks unless you have grinder and cut off wheel.

I ordered them from 4wheelparts.com. They were $60.00 shipped. The website doesn't have them listed but you can call their sales/support number which is 1-800-284-9840 and order them. Thats what I did. I just ordered the ones for the 2wd Dak, unfortunately I don't have the part number handy.
