Subject: problem with Fabtech lift
IP: Logged

Message:
I have had the fabtech 3" lift for three months. I was driving down a dirt road this weekend and my truck all of the sudden started to pull to the left. It used to just drift to the left and now its a good pull to the left. I called the place where I had the lift put in. They told me that the alignment shims must have fallen out and to get a new allignment. But then I noticed when going slow and stepping on the break there is a clunk and the steering wheel shifts back to straight forward for a second. when I let off the break it clunks back to the left. Its like I can hear and feel the front end shifting around. I have an appointment to get it checked out tomorrow but can anyone tell me how bad it may be?

Well it wasnt bad. It turned out that my alignment pins were twisted up. I drive down a bumpy dirt road daily and I guess thats what did it. They told me that Toyota and Dodge have some what of a design flaw in that the alignment pins can fall out, and in my case can get twisted up. I'm surprised because it was pulling real hard to the left and making a thunking sound when I hit the breaks at low speed.

I had a similar problem before I got an alignment. It turned out that the upper control arm mounts, which is also the alignment adjustment, loosened up. So the arm was shifting in and out from breaking to acceleration.
