 Subject: Biggest tires

I would just like to hear some opinions on the biggest tire size I should go with on a 3.9 litre dakota. It`s an 89` dak and I`m thinkin of putting 2" or 3" lift on her. Whats the biggest tire this truck could handle??

I can tell you that on my 93 dakota, 4x4, with a 2 inch body lift, I can't go anymore than a 31x10.5r15 tire. It does depend on the manufacturer. Some tires are listed as 31s but are actually only around 30.5, some are true 31s. I went for a little wider tire vs a taller tire. I ended up with a 30x11.5r15.

So where can I find out for sure the manufactuers recommendation. Does anyone no if there is a formula you need to use before you get bigger tires?

Look at the tire company that you are planning on buying the tire from. It should list a bunch of things such as the recommended rim width, over all tire width, overall height, load range, etc.
