Hi guys im gonna be buying a 3" body lift as soon as i get out of the military and head back home in about 2 weeks, I found it on here a long time ago but i lost it. I am looking for some Hints or tips for instaling the lift. The one i found a long time ago had some good pictures and stuff on it explaining what and especially what not to do when installing it. Im for sure not tool stupid but i like to have a good idea of what im getting into before i start unbolting my body. Any tips or even a link to someones post who had some would be appreciated.

No need to worry. Installing a body lift is a no-brainer. The only tricky part for your 2002 would be to weld the extension in for your t-case linkage. Don't be intimidated though.Everything else is super easy as long as you know how to turn a wrench.

Sorry I didn't realize 2002 model year was electric shift t-case. If that is the case don't worry about the welding of the extension piece. The body lift is so easy to do that I had my pet monkey do it for me. LoL

Seriously it only took me about 8hrs total to do the install complete from start to finish. Just remember to torque all your bolts and re-torque again after 1000km's (600 miles for you yankees).

Good post, I was wondering the same things as you. All these answers would help us both out. I have a 03 reg cab 3.9 5spd. I want a 3in. bod lift. I was wondering how much of a pain in the a*s it would be. I also want bigger tires, but kinda want to keep the stock rims for i will most likely be out of cash. I want people to look at the dakota in awe as i drive by.

Well after looking for about 2 months at both dakota sites i have found that the body lift looks like it should be relatively simple to put on, I ordered my lift and should be getting it tommorow, Also from my readings i have found that 305 70 r16 is the biggest tire we can fit on stock rim and have just a little bit of frame rub at complete full turn. I ordered my BF goodrich 305/70/R16's Mud terrain and have them sitting in my garage waiting for the lift to get here. The tires look so mean i cant wait to see them on my truck, I will be installing the lift this weekend but the only thing i am concerend about is the radiator hose, I cant find a definitive answer on whether or not i am going to have put in a new hose or if the stock one will reach far enouph......anyone who knows for sure drop a post

Mine did also , but I never used it, and everything was fine. I did , however , use a large black tiewrap to keep it from moving into harms way.
