Message: I have installed aftermarket accessories with body lifted vehicles. If you or someone u are friends with have the tools and ability to use a torch and welder then it is a pretty easy task. It's not quite as easy as just adding 3" to the bracket though, but a few pre-fittings and measurements prior to final welding do the trick.

Message: do you think that i would be able to weld a piece of angle iron to another piece and be able to drill holes in the frame and put them there and still be decently strong.

Message: How the brushguard originally mounted will determine how much you can re-inforce or strengthen it. Most are really for appearance only and not meant for actually pushing anything without damaging your bumper and the brushguard. Angle iron for brackets may work but is depends on how the brushguard was made to mount, also how "factory" you want the end result to be. Good-luck! Bob

Message: i put the smittybilt bumperguard on my 01 dodge dakota and ive got a 3 inch body lift. i just took the mounting brackets that came w/ the gaurd, cut them in two, and measured them to houw they needed to be in order to work, then welded them back. it bolted right on after doing that, and i havent had any problems. just whatever you do, dont weld of bolt it to the frame.
