i am going to put a body lift on my dak when i get some money to do it with, but i am also wanting a brushguard too. and i was wondering if anyone has accomplished this and looked right.
like putting longer brakets on it to raise it up or extend the side bars or what.

I'm wanting to do this with keeping as much strength as possible cause im gonna put tow hooks on it. help if you can. thanks

look at www. magnumdakota.com this guy has some pictures posted of the mods he had to do to make his pushbar work. i guess it would depend on the design you have and if it has to wrap over the bumper.

also, i think attaching tow hooks to the bars would not be too smart. in my opinion most brush guards are cosmetic and dont really have much structual purpose. ive bent the crap out of my side nerf bars so i ended up taking them off cause they just seem to get in the way.

I have a Manix brush guard for my 97 dak it is crap. i would not try to pull a 4 wheeler out with it expecially my truck or someone else's with it. I tried once bent it up BAD. IF i had it to do over again i would have got a full bumper replacement. There is a company (tuff country) in elcampo texas that will custom make one for a dak, about $800 though. well worth it if you are going to be pulling on it. they will powder coat it, spray it with bed liner, put a winch in it or what ever you want. but if you get this you would have to put on a suspention lift to make it look right not a body lift.

well it all depends on where you place your hooks, if you place them up high you will bend the crap out of you brush guard.

i'm not going to be using it all the time just when i really need it cause i don't have any tow hooks on my dak, like alot of others. and i figure if you can put a winch on a well built brush guard and it holds up it wouldn't hurt to put tow hooks.

I have an '01 Dak 4x4 with a PA body lift. I have tow hooks mounted to the frame. What I did was take the bumper off and drilled me an extra hole in each frame rail. I used the big heavy duty hooks off a '91 GMC truck. I did not have to cut anything in the bumper or plastic spoiler. When the body went up 3 inches it lined up the two holes in plastic spoiler almost perfectly with the frame rails. I thought now I have to put tow hooks on. I completely forgot about a brush guard or a Hanson bumper. At least now I've got hooks, so I don't think I'll buy a winch. I'd like to have a brushguard, but I think I'll put my attention elsewhere where I don't have to do a lot of fabrication and welding.
