Message: 4.56 seems a bit low to me for 33s but that's just my opinion. I think you'd be better off with 4.10s.

Message: The only way I would recommend going with the 4.56's is if this is not your daily driver, or you are planning to go with 35's in the future, or you are planning to drag race. I have 33's and recently switched from 3.55 to 4.10's and found they are just about right. Significant improvement in low end feel and less tranny hunting. Definately a worthwhile mod for around town or trail driving. I have seen a fairly noticable decrease in gas mileage on the freeway though. Since this is a truck and I never expected very good mileage anyway I would do it again in a heartbeat.
My bill for new gears and install was about $1100 if im remembering right. I think this may be a little higher than most places, but I live in San Jose, CA and everything is overpriced here.

Message: Hey Wildhawk,
What size tire are you running with those 4.10s? Also would you mind doing a quick check on the freeway next time your out and tell me what you RPM level is at near 65 or 70.
I'm thinking of those 4.56s and 33s because I tow my boat on the weekends
right now I have 3.55s and 32 inch tires. At 70mph my truck is only at 1950 RPMs. According to a calculator 4.56s would put me near 2300 rpms at 70mph and that would rock for towing. But those calculators are always off so thats why I wanted get your RPM level
thanks if you can.

Message: I agree...4.56 seems a bit steep for 33's. I've got 32's with a 3.92 and I'm happy...run about 2200 RPM at 70 mph, and far less gear hunting than when I had the 3.55 gears.
And in 4-Lo...wow the gearing is tight. I can't imagine 4.56 gears in low range.
