Subject: Question about longer shocks IP: Logged
Message: I heard from a friend of mine that is i got longer shocks on my truck that they would lift it some and i was wondering if this is true or not.

Message: It is true. I put rancho rs5000's on my 99s10 few thousand miles before it got totaled in a wreck. The shocks were for 2-4" of lift for the rear and they did in fact work in lifting the trucks rear a few inches. The only thing you have to be aware of is iff the suspension bottoms out, will it damage the shocks? Mind you my old factory shocks were bad and didn't add any resistance to compression at all. To test your old shocks just push them in and if they offer no resistance to compression or expansion then they are bad. Now the easy test for bad shocks is called the bumper test. push your bumper down and if it goes up and down more than once, then the shocks are bad. Bad shocks will cause vibrations at highway speeds in the front and sometimes noise from the shocks themselves. Just my $.02.
