Message: ok this is a dumb question. but is a 35inch tire on a 15 rim the same size as 315 tire on a 16inch rim and do the weigh the same.like if you put them side by side will they be the same height?
i getting ready to buy some new tires for my 2001 qc i run 305s now but i been checking around and i believe that 315s will fit with trimming and turning my t bars up. but i notice alot of guys run the 15 rims and also the price is cheaper for 35 inch tire to

Message: A 315/75/16 tire is about 34.6" in height while a 315/75/15 tire is an inch less, 33.6". But the if you order a 35" tire, that is what you get, a 35" tire, i.e., does not matter if have 15" or 16" wheels.

Message: donkey is right and wrong. you cant go order 35" tires with a 16 inch hole. they have to be in metric size for 16 inch. the first # is not the height, it is the width the second # is the sidewall. Ex. 315/75/16 has a width of 315 millimeters, and the sidewall is %75 of the width. so the sidewall is 236.25 mm there are 2 sidewalls, so you add them together thats 472.5. 472 mm plus 16 inch rim = 34.6 inches like donkey said. basically What i am saying, is that the first # means nothing without the second. 315/40/16's are only 25.9 inches 315/60/16's are 30.8. Well you get my drift. to get at least 35" go with 335/75/16, they will be 35.7 inches, and 13.1 inche wide I saw them on a ram once, and they looked sweet.

Message: 335-75-16. 35.7 tall by 13.1 inches wide. Good for a Ram with its room in the fenderwells. Not good for an off-roading Dak with it's limited amount of space in the fenderwells. As for looking good, yes they would look great. Especially on a Dak. If people want to try 315-75-16's and dare I say 335-75-16's on a Dak then go ahead. 33's on Dak's is pushing having a front-end that lasts, 34.6's is tempting fate, and 35.7's is asking for trouble. I run 33's.

Message: i am going to try the 315s, after putting the 305s on i had the ball joints and tie rod ends replaced. because i think the 305s made every thing lose and it already had 80000+ miles on it when i went to the bigger tires. so i think the front end is in good shape now. so going to even biggers tires should be fine for a few years anyway.
i hope!

Message: How much lift do you have? I am runnig 305/70/16 and do not think I could clear 315/70/16 without major fender trimming.

Message: the only place i see that i will have to have trim is on the front plastic bumper at the bottom. the back should have no problem at all. when i did the body lift i still had room to crank my tbars. so i will do that when i go to install the 315s.so i should have this done by mid april and i post some pics of it if it works.

Message: If you are interested in going with 35" I've got a set of 4 tires and a spare on the stock 15" wheels off of a 98 Durango for sale. The 4 tires are Big o MT's and have less then 1,000 miles on them. the spare is a BFG MT and has about 1/2 tread left on it. If you want more info about these email me at mudtoy98@aol.com

Message: I have a real problem. I took my truck in for scheduled service, the dealer changed out the Cat and pulled my transfer case off to reseal it. I got it back and drove it 26 miles when the tranny blew . after R&R at the dealer, they said they would check with my extended warranty provider to make sure they were on line to pay for the repair.
The insurance inspector wrote down that my tires were too big and denied me coverage. I have 33's. the dealer said the insurance company was trying anything to keep from warrantying my truck.
My question. Is there any reason that these tires should not have been used. They said it caused the failure. I bought the truck with 31s on it, 47,000 miles. I put about 13,000 on the truck with no off road travel. Should the tranny have let loose because of my tires? THey want $400 for the take out and R&R, they want $3600 for an new tranny/ $1900 for a used one 34000 miles plus $400 to put it back in. I am in a bad situation and need some input.

Message: hey JJJ the warranty company was right to turn down your claim. for the proper tire to gear ratio to run 33" you would needa 4.00 or a 4.10 gears. be glad thats all their charging you I just spent close to $6,500 on a new transmission and transfor case. Although I put a Atlas II transfor case in but I blew a hole through the transmission houseing. I had to switch my gears to 4.56 to make up for the 37" I'm running.
