I have a 93 Dakota 4X4 club cab with the 5.2 V8. I know that the only " Official " lift kit is the trailmaster 4". I was wondering what the differences would be between a 93 and say a 97 Dakota 4X4. Tough Country maeks a 5.5" lift and it is actually cheaper the the trailmaster 4". Also I would like to know if anybody has installed this kit on a 93 style truck.

This question has been brought up once before, with no answer. Several choices I see:
1. Ask Tough Country themselves if they have compared the different generations and if they could tell you what parts would not fit. Obviously something is different or they would be listing it for the Gen II makes as well.
2. Find someone with a Gen III who is willing to let you take comparison measurements (ie. upper A-arm dimensions, front differential mounts, lower control arm mounts, etc). By doing this you can make your own assumptions.
3. Talk to a knowledgable Mopar mechanic or Suspension Fabricator familiar with both the Gen II and Gen III suspensions.

I personally don't know what was changed after 96' but prior to the rack-and-pinion(I have the 95 on Glassworks Unlimited's web page), but I am guessing there is enough difference that the Gen III kit is not easily modified or they would have already done it to tap into a larger market. Or maybe....it is as simple as nobody has tried it! If that is the case, I'll be bent, since I could have gotten an additional inch-and-a-half without changing the wheels!
