Message: Of course there are not as many selections for 33-12.50-16's. Are you looking for these, or are you looking for 285-75-16's or 305-70-16's? There are many more of these to choose from. Also, what matters the most is the TRUE height and width of the tire. Another thing is that if you're looking at 33-12.50's, most of them will be way shy of 33 inches. More like 32.2, or 32.7 and so on. Unless it's a Swamper. If I were you and I had rear disk brakes, I would stay with 16's with the metric equivalent of 33 and 11 or 12 inches wide. Don't try to alter your brakes, you'll only be asking for trouble. Dakotas look really good with 285-75-16's and bigger. They handle better with a 16 over a 15. If you don't have the bigger disk brakes that make you need a 16, then go with the 15's.

Message: The Swamper Trxus measures 32.7 tall and 11.2 wide. If I can remember right, the 265-70-16 Goodyear Wrangler RTS measures 30.6 tall and 10.5 wide. If you're talking about the mega-expensive Swamper SSR, the 285-75-16 in it measures 33.9 inches tall. It is the only 285-75-16 anomaly I've found to not hold true to the 33ish inch tall general rule. I saw a set of Trxus Swampers on a Dak, and it looked mean. The Trxus also goes really good in the wet mud with their great center siping and their sidebiters. The outer lugs are spaced too close together for my taste, though they make for a better handling, quieter ride. One of the best things about this size in the Trxus is that it is a 10 ply tire and you don't see that very often. I just bought tires myself, and I was torn between The 285-75-16 Trxus MT and the Mickey Thomson Baja Claw Radials. It almost came down to a coin toss, but I went with the Claws. They are 305-70-16's, and measure 32.95 inches tall and 11.7 inches wide with 10 inches of tread. It really came down to which one was louder. The Trxus are quieter and probably last longer, but I want my truck to announce it's presence from a mile away. Check out Interco's website and you'll find out a lot of info about Swampers. I can tell you though, unless you get a Trxus STS, MT, or an Swamper SSR(a more street friendly TSL) you'll get a darn good off-road tire, but are very hard to keep and stay in balance. As for Swampers, the best deal for the money for a good all-around tire is the Trxus.
