LIFT TIME :)
I've been reading just about every body lift post there is on this website. 3" vs 2", some frame showing vs. less frame, or buy nerf bars and just forget seeing the frame lol. Well I just wanted to get some final advice when I go to install this puppy.
Any tricky parts besides like the steering extension?
Will I have to alter the fan shroud?(Did all of you have to?)
If you own a BL... do you love it? ;)
And anything else I should watch out for when I do this?
Thanks again guys.

Message: The bodylift sounds like the best idea, i think the 3" is the only option available. Tax returns are great, but i just wrapped my lift kit and tires around my girlfriends finger. maybe next year.

Message: Assuming there is not much difference between the Gen II and III (mechanically) you will have to:
1. Watch out for the spare tire lowering shaft, as it will get kinked in the frame if you don't. With a 2" lift you must enlarge the hole it passes through in the frame, 3" and it might go under that cross member?
2. Yes, the fan shroud needs to be cut.
3. Auto trans lines going to the radiator need to be tweekedm on a 2", I don't know what has to happen on a 3".
4. The brake lines from the Master Cylinder or anti lock stuff to the proportioning valve need to be straightened for a 2", again..I don't know about the 3".
5. There may be a wire bundle(s)that need to have a clip or two detached from the frame to allow the body to lift install without tearing wires.
6. The auto linkage will need to be lenghtened (I have a 2" lift and simply took some of the kinks out of mine, it is off by half a letter on the dash). With the 3" you will definately have to weld in the extension.
7. The bumpers will need to be relocated(new holes drilled in the frame) to fill that cheezy gap.
Okay fellas.....what else am I forgetting? I installed mine 5 years ago and am getting long in the tooth, myself.

Message: GenIII must be different then. The only modifications you have to do is trim the fan shroud and the steering extension. The kit comes with bumper relocation brackets and the part for the steering. All wires and hoses are long enough.

Message: It all depends on the body lift. If you got the money get the more expansive one cause it will have all the linkage extensions and relocation brackets necessary

Message: I am selling a 3in body lift that was on my 98 Dakota 4x4. I think the lift will go on all extended-cab 97,98 & 99 dakotas. It has all of the hardware and bumber brackets. I am asking $80 dollars for the kit.
