I didn't think that real ones were D.O.T. approved?
I would have gone that route if i could have got away with it..

Message: Hey Brad, real nice Gen II, very similar to my Gen III in color, size and accessories.
How much did you pay for those wheels if you don't mind me asking? I know that the AR black steel wheels are around $60 a piece but have been on backorder for over a year now. I take it they are street legal since the "fake" wheel lock is tack welded a little inside the wheel lip and not necessarily against the tire bead. Still looks good and I am interested in a set. I am shopping for new 15-17" X 10" wheels right now to get ready for the truck shows that will be starting in a few months. I have been looking for a wheel that is all black or has black spokes with a machined lip but we know how small the selection is for 6 on 4.5 bolt patterns.
I like Hop's wheels too and though about getting a set last year, but I don't forsee me buying another set of polished rims. I bent one of my 17" polished Eagles last summer off-roading and as much as I liked the wheels, I didn't like the amount of maintenance required to keep them looking new. I'll go with steel or aluminum's painted/clearcoated this time.
Thanks for your help, Bob

Message: Yes they are not REAL beadlocks. They were custom built to my specs by Stockton wheel in California, cost $135.00 each plus shippping. The only drawback is that there is no place for wheel weights on the oustide half of the wheel, I have to live with slight vibrations.....Another option i found was another place (in Cali I belive) that takes those "baja" style aluminum wheels, machines the outside lip and welds REAL beadlock ring in place, then bolts the outer ring onto the wheel. It is still not a true beadlock, so you won't have all those problems, but the way they do it you can't tell the diffence by looking at them..I was going to buy those, paint the alumin wheel black and leave the beadlock ring silver, but the downside was the $250 each price tag!!!

Message: Hi all. This may seem silly and an easy answer for some, but what sized tires are street legal in California. Thanks for your help. godsofold@hotmail.com

Message: Nomad:
Not sure why your posting that question here but there's not a "legal" size tire for california that I know of. There are only limits on the amount of tire which you can have exposed and sticking outside the body of the vehicle. Although in most cases it won't really matter as long as you don't get stopped for something else like speeding or somethin. Found out the hard way on that one!
