i was wondering if someone could fill me in a little on 4-link suspension.i saw the pics of that dak on 38's and i don't understand what keeps the shocks from bottoming out with the weight on the axles, with no springs (leaf or coil)do those coilovers hold it up or what? does anyone know a good website to learn more on different off-road setups or how i can contact that guy, cause chromeflames.com doesn't seem to work. thanks

Coil-over shocks are exactly what they sound like....coils over a shock. They are what hold the weight up. The four link is simply four links that hold the axle in place. There are many ways to set them up, and many ways to set them up wrong. They are really difficult to get perfect on the first try. A lot of people just build them and then drive them. There are a lot of geometry issues to solve before you can get it perfect...people with this experience are great to have do your work. Any one can try it out if they want though.

I'm currently putting a 4-link under my Jeep Wrangler. Just dug out the June and July issues of Petersen's 4-wheel and off road magazine's "How to set up a four link" articles. They are really helpful. Many fab shops are now offering cut to spec. length tubing, rod ends, bungs, etc for the four link. Getting the set up correct for an off road/street vehicle can be tricky. Don't want too much squat under acceleration or walking of the differential when the suspension articulates. There are many factors involved and many measurents.
