Subject: 35" Tires with 3" BL / 3" SL ?
IP: Logged

Message:
Have a 2000 Dakota w/ 3" PA Body Lift and am running 33 x 12.50 tires right now. Do you think if I add the 3" Rancho Suspension Lift, I would be able to fit 35" tires?? Thanks in advance.

Yes , as long as you have the correct off-set wheels they will fit. There are people running 35s with just the 3in. body lift (and quite a bit of trimming) , so the extra 3 inches would would be enough.

There use to be a guy here that had that set-up (3in body and 3in. Rancho w/35s) on his Dakota and his wife also had a Dakota 4X4 with some 18`s on it...anyone know what happened to them?

I am still here! Just not as much, I have put about 12K on my truck without a problem since the Rancho install last March and ran 35's up until October when I put on 34x11.50 Mickey Thompson Baja's mounted to the stock rims for wintertime, I get absolutely NO rubbing with these aggressive(and noisy:) tires at full articulation. The BFG 35x12.50-17's are more like 34.6" and rubbed only in one spot on the driver side at the bottom of the fenderwell just behind tire. I had to trim off the 3/4" lip that hangs down and runs from the outside of fenderwell to the frame. Other than that, no rubbing at full articulation to date using 4.75 backspacing.

On both set-ups and am also running a .25" aluminum wheel spacer, so that would make it 5.25 BS for stock rims and 4.50 BS for the Eagles. The main reason I did this was due to losing some upper balljoint to tire clearance after I installed new aftermarket uppers when doing the lift.

My Dak spends most of the time hanging out in the garage unless we get a bad snowstorm that my car will not make it through(I know, drives a 4x4 in the summer and car in the winter?). Doing some custom-work to both Dak's to really set them apart for the Carlisle PA shows this year, last year was a blast.

John, if you check my profile it has an updated pic of my truck with 35's.

2thextrm- notice any adverse effects from the spacers? how the 17's treating you?

lilthurmy03- do you have any pics? I have a 2wd 3inch suspension and I'm running 31-12.50 on 15x10's with no rubbing and I don't off road. think I could get 35's under mine? did you tighten your torsion bars much?

I will probable get the 3inch body anyway, and latter get bigger tires.

Hey dude, no problems(ie: wheel bearings) from the spacers to date after about 10K so far. The 17's.... um, sadly I kinda bent one off-road on a big azz rock. This particular wheel has been on backorder for the last 4 months I have needed a replacement. The bead seals enough to still hold air but it shakes pretty bad on the highway. The bend is on the inside, I'll probably try to heat it and bang the snot out of it to straighten enough to get a decent balance out of it, otherwise I'll just sell the three good ones and get a different wheel, I gotta lotta compliments on these though. That's what I get for being lazy and not mounting my stock wheels w/34" mickey's instead of using my street wheels offroad, oh well.

dang sucks man, I bent an 18 once on my scvt contour I didn't heat it but rather tapped on it with a ball ping hammer for a week or two and got the bend out. I don't know how bad yours is but this was pretty bad. I snagged a raised manhole cover about 3/4 of an inch jagged edge above the road at 120mph. lol

heating should speed it up.

are both back spaceings on back order? or just the ones with 4.5

Raised manhole cover at 120? lol, lucky u didn't have a blow out and wipe out.

I am not sure if the 3.75 is on backorder or not.

Hopefully, the rim won't crack when beating on it, but if it does, I can't use the rim anyway.

very lucky I was younger and dumber. the tire blistered. It didn't bend that bad held air but just wouldn't balance.
