Subject: Anyone with body lift ?'s IP: Logged
Message: I am going to put a 3 inch PA body lift on my 99' 4x4 single cab v6 3.55s, but i have some questions first.
My truck has a manual tranny, is a shift extention necessary on my truck? How does the extender go in weld, or screw in? Same with my floor 4wd shifter.
What offset rim should I use to clear 33x12.50s using a 15x8 rim?
Will my v6 be able to pull the 33s ok with only the 3.55s?
Does anyone have the hidden hitch so the trailor hitch is right under the rear bumper?
Can i rerun my dual exaust to come out right under the rear bumper instead of 3 inches below?
Is their any suprises in the instalation that i should know about for the dakota? I am having a friend that has installed many body lifts help me so i wont be blind as far as the installation goes.
All responses will be appreciated!!!
Thanx

Message: the pa kits i have installed are very complete and should include any extensions. i ran 33x12.50's for 2 years on stock 15x8 wheels with a 5.5 inch backspacewith no rub. i can sell you the set of 5 wheels for $100 if your interested. also pa's tech line has been excellent the one time a problem came up. hope this helps

Message: as far as the rims and tires go... you would be better off with a 15x10 rim.. with about a -46 to a -72 offset, better with the -72 thoughyou may still get rubbing at full lock though but thats the price to pay

Message: i'd be hesitant about putting 33's on a V6 with the 3.55 rear end. I was looking at doing the same, but am now thinking about 31's instead. I think 33's on the 3.55 rear end is the equivelant of running the stock 29's on a low 3 (3.0 or 3.1) or a high 2 rear end (2.9 or so). I forget exactly what ratio it was, but it's super low. If i remember right, 33's with the 3.99 rear is equivelant to a 3.22 and with the 4.10 is just over 3.55 .

Message: I just put a PA 3" body lift on my 98' dakota 4x4. I am running 33x12.50 Mastercraft corser MT's on the stock 15x8 rims. The lift was a huge pain in the ass to install. I paid a car shop to do it for me and it took them 8 hours to do it right. It did take some welding to install the lift. They also had to take off the universal joints, which are a big pain to do. however, I don't have any rubbing at all. Overall, I love the lift and the work that they did, it just cost me a lot to do it. If you want a picture of my truck with the lift and tires, then just email me and I will email you back after I get the pictures, probably later on this week sometime.

Message: I think you got hosed on that install. I had to do no welding. They had to take out the universal joints? I have no clue why they would do that. Your frame and drivetrain all stay the same, the only thing that moves up is the body...

Message: I agree, I installed the PA kit myself in about 6 hours and I'm no master mechanic. U-joints?! ,, no, they did not remove your u-joints,,if they did or told you they did, I would never ever go back to that repair shop again.
