If a put a 3 inch body lift on my 1999 2wd dakota, will it look absolutely terrible if I wait a few months before I buy bigger tires for it? Right now I have 255 65 Goodyears on it.

I would wait till you can afford bigger tires. It wouldn't look HORRIBLE, but it won't look right.
Here is my 2wd with a 3" body lift and 31" tires.
