Message: Have any of you put aftermarket lights where the stock ones go,even if the dakota came from the factory without them. if so was it easy.

Message: i know PIAA makes an exact replacment for the stock fog lights. My uncle got them on his 00 r/t. They have the blue or led lighting but they fit into the stock holes with the same shape and the stock fogs

Message: PIAA 510's are 4" lights. I had to make my own brakets thought. Work great and I was able to mount the rock guards on them too.

Message: PILOT makes a direct replacement for the Generation 3 dakotas. I put it in and am VERY happy with the performance and look. HOwever I also bought the factory switch and the factory foglight relay, then wired the PILOT lights into the factory harness. My truck had all of wires in place up to where the lights plugged into the wiring harness under the front bumper. Just needed to splice in new wiring plugs to run to the individual light from the front.
The PILOT lights come with a nice wiring harness, I just was anal and wanted a 'stock' look. The PILOT lights I ordered through my local Autozone and they cost about $60 [online prices were all the same or higher, actually]. The factory parts added another $70 to the price, but they were not necessary to get them to work. I just wanted them so maintain a stock interior look.
PIAA's seem to sell for around $120-270, so I the PILOT set was perfect for me. I think it was part # PL-119C. Good luck
