Is there any other way to lift a 4x4 dakota other than the suspension lift and body lifts???
Is it posible to lift a 4x4 with new spindles???
Im wanting to lift my 98 4x4 dakota 2-3" and i dont really like the looks of a body lift and i dont really like the price of a suspension lift.
I would like to raise my truck for about the body lift price....
Is there any other way to lift a 4x4 a couple inches other than body and suspenison???

No, your choices are a body or suspension lift.
Technically, a spindle lift is a form of a suspension lift that lifts the vehicle by replacing the knuckles with ones that have the spindles physically lower on the knuckle. The front wheel rotates on the spindle and by moving the spindle down on the knuckle; the other components are higher in relation to the spindle thus lifting the vehicle.
But in your case it does not apply because a 4x4 doesn’t have spindles. Instead of having a spindle, your knuckle has a large round hole. Bolted to the outside of the knuckle and over that hole is a hub assembly. The outside, splined end of the CV axle slips into the splined center of the hub through the hole in the knuckle. As the CV axle rotates, it rotates the hub (which your wheel is bolted to) thus rotating the tire.
I strongly doubt anyone makes replacement knuckles for a 4x4 with the hub mount physically lower. Given the space limitations, I don’t think it would be possible without casting the new knuckles longer than the originals. Once you do that, your back into swapping out the same components the regular suspension lift does to correct the geometry (i.e. control arms, drop brackets, etc.)

Add a leaf or Blocks in back and crank you Torsion bars in front.
If you have a V-6 get the V-8 tb's. If you have the V-8 then you are stuck.
Cranking your Torsion bars will put extra stress on front suspension parts but with proper care and maintenance you can stay on top of it better.
I have over 75 K and have always had my TB's cranked and wheel it pretty hard.
You will get more lift this way, more in back then front

how much lift would this give me. Would it give me a couple inches?? What do mean by if I have a V6 then I can get V8 torsion bars?? I do have a V-6, and my truck will probably never see off road action, I want to lift it just for the looks.
If I would put blocks in the back, and either crank my torsion bars in front or get the V8 tb's would my truck sit leavel??

Check how much thread you have left on your TB's. If you can get 4-5 turns on them you could get up to 2".
Add-a-leafs give 2" and blocks you can get in 1.5-2" .
The V-8 torsion bars are thicker and stronger. They will handle the cranking and not give to much back(loss of spring) . I added them to handle the extra front end weight. I cranked the crap out of them and then backed them down a little to loosen them up. The Rancho lift uses longer Torsion bar bolts for cranking so I got a little more than you may get but it is worth a try.

should I get V8 tb's to get 1.5" - 2" of lift???? and how much do they cost???
So if I get 2" blocks or add-a-leafs and install them in the back, will it be possible to level my truck by either turning my torsion bars in the front (or getting V8 tb's and crankin them up)?????
What is the Add-A-Leafs exactly, and where do they go??? and how much are they??? and do they lift like a body lift or a suspension lift??
Over all how hard of a job is it adding the add-a-leafs and cranking the torsion bars??? and will i need any type of gap guards after i do all this????

The add a leaf is just like what you posted. Mine are Rancho and if you have access to a lift it is easy to install. You need longer U-bolts which I believe came with the Rancho ones I got. They install between the ones you have already. It is only about .5" thick but it is curved to add spring as well. I got 2" from this addition in the back.
I would get the V-8 TB's and see how much higher you can get your front before you do the leafs or blocks in back. Since they are stiffer they will hold lift a bit more.
Measure from the ground to the fender(a fixed point that is consistant for all wheel wells), Once you know where you are all around then do the torsion bars. Measure after a few turns to see what you are getting. If you cant get enough height out of them then you are stuck.
I would not get new TB's unless you know that you will get close to what you want with your current ones.
I had my tb's installed by my mechanic. I also had a friend put on the Add a leafs in his shop. I do not do any work myself.
If you crank your torsion bars get it aligned after.
If you have no threads left to crank then you are stuck.

How much did the shop charge you for installing new tb's??
After I do all this will i need new shocks or any kind of gap guard??

There are no place to put add-a-leafs in the front because you don`t have leaf springs in the front , only the rear. You get some minor lift up front by adjusting the torsion bar bolts.

If i do want the bigger torsion bars, where can I even get them???? I have looked all over the net and cant find them for sale..
If i max out my tb's that i have now, is that ok for my truck or will it put stress on other parts?? I do not plan on riding my truck hard, it will stay on the road.

Because getting anything from the dealer is so difficult the easiest way to get the V-8 torsion bars is get a VIN#off a V-8 Dakota and call the dealer and tell them you want new torsion bars. Otherwise you need to find someone at the dealer to help you find the TB's part number for a V-8, Actually I think I still have it at home so I will check for you.
