Message: if you were deep enough to soak the filter, then you would have just sucked water into the stock air box. I have an 02 model and i believe we have the same airbox setup. there should be a hole in your fender where you have a plastic funnel coming out of your airbox meets to recieve air. turn the funnel up and down and that'll give you a little bit more clearance for deep crossings. As for the body lift affecting your airbox, i don't know. I have a 3 in lift on mine and everything was fine with it until i replaced the intake.

Message: I had to ditch my K&N FIPK because the body lift changed all the angles and nothing fit. I tried to run the filter without the sheild but the fan flung the water right onto the cone filter. Now I have a 14" open element on top of a Power Aide TB Spacer. This way it will take alot of water to soak this filter. I will know if I have a problem after my next Clear Creek trip in Jan 04.
