Message: Just a warning to anybody wanting to use the Fab Tech 3" suspension lift. I am really disipointed with the outcome and Fab's customer support. The front end came out 2+" higher in the front with the add a leafs in the back. It "clanks" when I hit the smallest of bumps. I contacted Fab Tech a few times with no support from the company, they just played dumb. I had to fabricate new shackells out of my pocket. Now the add a leafs flattened out after less than 2k miles! Not worth the $1,300!!!!! I now call them Craptech.

Message: I have the 3" kit and I'm very pleased with it .The clank noise is your a arm topping out . The spring gets the most amount of lift possible , so when the truck rebound it hits the stops on the arm to the spring nipple ( housing ) But it's just noise , same thing with a ford , chevy whatever . Your not harming anything , it just sound like crap . The add a leafs are fine for me , I like the prerunner look ( that's what it is ) so no problems from the leafs .

Message: I have the 3" kit in my 97 Dakota and love it. When I go over a speedbump the front shocks rebound and top out, but that is to be expected. If it didn't do this you might smash your oilpan into something offroad as the weaker front springs would allow the engine to travel down faster and farther.
As for the rear, I personally don't like the pre-runner lift design either, but that is what the advertising in the display said it would do. It advertised 3" of front lift and about 1.5-2" of rear. However, I found that Chevy pickup lowering shackles work perfectly to lift the rear end another 2". This puts my rear end about 1/2" higher than the front. And they were about $60-70.
I also had problems with installing it as I sheared some of the ball joint bolts in half installing them. I called and they had them replaced with a better grade right away. So I can't relate to your negative experience with customer service.
Keep two things in mind. A new design frequently has a bug or two to work out. The second is that human nature naturally becomes defensive and contrary when we are faced with someone either aggressive or obnoxious. I am not saying you were either, because I don't know you. However, if you called and told them what a piece of S**T they sold you and then expected them to bend over backwards that would explain the behavior. It doesn't excuse it, but would explain it. If that doesn't fit then I don't have any other theories.

Message: I've heard of using Chevy drop shackles before, but can you give me more info? Are they 2" or 4" drop shakles? What makes them?
Thanks

Message: Well....they don`t make a kit for 4X4s yet , so I`d bet they are talking about 2WDs.

Message: Why would the back end sit much lower than the front? On a stock truck, the front already sits lower than the rear.
This is from Fabtech:
"When combined with the 1.5'' rear add-a-leaf, the 3'' front kit LEVELS most Dakotas and Durangos for a much better appearance."
Just wondering as I'm thinking of adding the Fabtech lift too.

Message: the truck after the lift sits level . It's even 1/2" higher in the rear still . But from stock the rear is taller about 2 1/2 to 3 . So some people have a spazz about why it doesn't look like stock , I like mine that way ........

Message: I have a 2000 ram with the 3" fabtech. Plain and simple fabtech sucks D-ck. The bushing are always going out. The shocks that came with the kit are blown. I've had the kit a little over a year. I am very disapointed with fabtech. Although the spindles are awesome.

Message: I agree Caligrego! The overall product is cheaply made, plain and simple. If guys think that I am "spazzing" then oh well. I have a new truck and I expect that after paying $1300 it should look and work properly.
MY buddy just bought a Fab Tech lift for his Heavy Duty Chevy and blew out his ball joints the first time driving lightly off road. He called Fab Tech and they told him that their lifts are not designed for off road use, just for looks. Thats a big joke, and if I knew what they said I'd never have bought a Fab Tech Lift.I just wanted to warn everyone else so that they don't have the same problems. Maybe the bad lift is only on the 02 SLT model, I don't know.
