Subject: RPM readings w/3.92 and 33's

Here are some numbers from my truck with the new 33x12.5/15 BFG M/T from the stock 255/65/16. This is for 3.92 gears and 5spd (4th being 1:1). The speedo has NOT been corrected, yet, so these don't reflect the correct mph. I estimate it's about 13.3% off (60 = 68 mph).

RPM/Speedo MPH (Actual MPH)

3rd Gear:
2600 40 mph (45 mph)
3000 45 mph (52 mph)
3350 50 mph (57 mph)

4th Gear:
2050 45 mph (51 mph)
2300 50 mph (57 mph)
2500 55 mph (62 mph)
2800 60 mph (68 mph)
3000 65 mph (74 mph)
3300 70 mph (79 mph)

5th Gear(O/D):
2000 60 mph (68 mph)
2150 65 mph (74 mph)
2400 70 mph (79 mph)

This should give an idea of what to expect with 33's and 3.92's. If anyone has readings from 3.55's or from different size stock tires, please post any info you might have! Hopefully these numbers can help us with our mods!

I got my dak clocked with a radar gun (my friend's a cop) and found out that the dakota speedo is actually off coming from the factory ie the 3.92s with the 31s is slow from the factory so the speedo reads that you are going faster then you really are. Anyway getting tpo a point here I found out that with 33s and 3.92 gears the speedo is allost dead on only 3 mph off at 80.

That will be my next step, to use a radar gun or GPS to figure the REAL difference. ..."3 mph off at 80", that's not bad!
