Subject: exhaust and trailer hitch with 3"body IP: Logged
Message: so if i put a 3" body on my 00 dak, my dual pipes are going hang 3" lower than they are now relative to the body, and my trailer hitch is going to be 3" lower as well. right? does anyone have a picture or an idea of what the trailer hitch looks like that low? i can rebend the exhaust, but the hitch isnt going anywhere. any info would be great. thanks

Message: No, your body will be 3" higher. Nothing will be lowered.
Do you have a regular hitch or a hidden hitch?

Message: YES!!!!! His hitch and exhaust WILL be 3" lower!!!!! RELATIVE TO THE BODY!!!!! As he said in his post. Or, in other words the exhaust and hitch will be 3" further DOWN from the body (using the body as a frame of reference).
My opinion on the question originally asked -- the exhaust and hitch look fine when a body lift is installed. I've seen it on a couple body lifted Daks and it really doesn't look outta place or odd at all.
Hope this helps.

I moved my bumper up only 2 inches so that I could use the same bolt holes for the bumper and the receiver. I also moved the exhaust tip up as far as possible. It hits my springs under full articulation.

It is the same generation as yours. Hitch looks fine. Exhaust is a personal preference.

Message: Just get you pipes raised to the level of the body. they will be protected by the hitch itself. Thats what i did. And am glad of it. After a few times of slapping the rear on a stump or something, or taking a ditch bank thats real step, it really does work well. Good Luck.
