Park the truck on what you know is a level surface and make sure all four tires are equally inflated. Open both doors and place a carpenter's level on the driver's door jamb. Using a 13/16 socket, tighten the anchor bolt on the driver's side until the door jamb is level. Now this is where I take an extra step. Some people say you should count the number of turns of the bolt and repeat the same number of turns on the passenger's side. This only lifts the front of the truck evenly. The object here is to level the truck, not only front to rear but also left to right. Because torsion bars will settle over time and will do so at different rates, torsion bars that were evenly adjusted at the factory, may not be even a few years later. Take a tape measure and measure the distance from the ground to the frame of the truck, just behind the front bumper. Also measure the distance between the upper control arm and the upper bump stop. With the level in the passenger's side door jamb, tighten the passenger's side anchor bolt until the jamb is level. Repeat the frame and bump stop measurements. Tighten or loosen the passenger's anchor to match the measurements from the driver's side. This will ensure the truck is level left to right. NOTE: Cranking up the torsion bars will change drive line angles and will increase the strain on front end components. Ball joints, CV-Axles and such will have a reduced service life. Also, the truck will require a front end alignment to keep the tires from wearing unevenly.

I just did mine, except I did not do an alignment afterwards, I am trying my best to wear down these lame Wrangler RT/S's. It really gave my Durango a whole different feel and more importantly look.

CP,

Great write up! I have not heard of some of the things you mention to check. Your right cranking the same number of turns on each side will not keep the truck level from side to side. I also agree to align after a cranking. Or just wait for the bad tire wear to show and hope to catch it before it gets you.

I would add or say, I think it is best to measure fixed points on the truck like the wheel well height before you start, then jack up the truck making it a bit easier to crank on those bad boys. I make sure the measurements at the wheel well are equal all around. Then I check for level.

As far as front end component wear I have not sesn any from this (over 45K miles) but it can and will happen depending on your driving habits and how well you keep up with your truck.

The bolt is about even with the midle of the front doors under the car. If you lay on your back and look under there you will see 2 large bolts, one on each side about 1 foot from the rocker panel. You will want to twist those clockwise until you get your desired height.
