Subject: !! 35,s or 33,s !!

I was pondering getting a new set of tires for my 97 CC V6 Auto. I currently have a 3" PA body lift with the torsion bars cranked 2 turns (Gave me bout 1" in front) and also have the rough country rear add-a-leafs (gave me bout 2" in back). I have the 3.92 gears with the trac-lock differential.

I am currently running 265/75/16 tires an the stock 16x8 rims. With no rubbing what so ever.

My question is should I go for the 315/75/16 (35's) or should i go with a set of 33's.
I dont do much off roading and dont plan on doing any major off-roading in the future.
Just driving on some hunting trails.

Would the 35's fit with minor rubbing on the frame? And also would I have to do any trimming.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You

With trimming, the right width tire/wheels, and the right backspacing a 35 will fit. Keep in mind even with all this done if you really do flex the suspension it will most likely still rub. Just for street riding you may be ok.

If I whent with the 35's the tire would be a 315/75/16 mounted on the stock 16x8 rim.

Would this work?

I'm thinking you'll need different wheels with lest backspacing or you'll be rubbing the frame rails. I have 31x11.50's on stock wheels and they'll rub the frame rails at full lock. Not bad, just a little.

I have 287/75/16 with no rubbing whatsoever. If you go with a wider tire (12.50) you will have rubbing on the frame at full lock. Either you don't turn as far or you get a narrower tire.

im running 35's on my 01 dakota and i love them! i did do a little trimming but not much more from what i had already done for my 33's. on my 33's i ran a 16x10 wheel, and on these 35's i am running the stock 16x8's that the truck came with. as for turning, at full lock yeah, i do rub the frame a good bit. on the road it does great and off road it does even better. you just lose a little turning radius if thats kool with you? i did but it really aint that bad. on full flex and crawling off road, i have no problems rubbing. here check my page.

Brandon,

do you think the V6 3.9 will have enough power to push 35's? I have the 3.92 gears with the factory locker.

Thanks for the help
