Message: I have a 1999 dakota sport. How much lift would i need in order to run 33x12.50's R15. Also would it be better to go with suspension, body, or both?

Message: I have put some new pics in my gallery on DTW. This past week i have been installing a solid axle conversion. When it is done it will sit 3 inches lower then what is in the pics. The coils in the front were to stiff and there is a lift block under the new leafs. When i change them it should be perfect. The tires are 38" with 15x10 rims. If I decide to make this kit for sale it would not be as high. This truck is for show and I think it is good enough to be on a mag cover. SO check out the gallery and tell me what you think.

Message: So this is strictly a show truck? Not registered for driving?? Just FYI for anyone thinking of doing something like this ... if you are in PA (or a state with similar regulations and laws), this truck would never ever be road legal. You could never register or inspect something like this in good ol PA. I think the max limit for bumper/frame height is 32" for any class of pick-up (I think they go by the bottom edge of the bumper, unless it's been modified, then they go by the frame). Nonetheless, I see plenty of trucks around here with bumpers higher than 32", and still, there they are ... cruisin down the road.

Message: The bottom of the frame is 31 inches off the ground but the bottom of the body is 38". I do plan on driving it on the street and it is registered. I live in Ca and I have seen trucks that are 12 inches taller driving down the road.

Message: lift laws in california state that the frame can be no more then 24 inches off the ground. The larger trucks are not legal but the lift laws have turned into a don't ask don't tell policy for most police departments ie if no one complains they don't care. But I have seen trucks puled over and given tickets for 25 inchs so be careful and be ready to defend your pride and joy. but the worst that will happen is you'll get a fix it ticket whihc means drop the tires to something rediculesly small get it passed and put the big tires back on.
looks great through

Message: I thought it was 27 inches but in either case I know that I am too high. This truck is not a daily driver and I know that I have to watch out for police. If I get pulled over then I guess I will deal with it but until then I am going to enjoy it.

Message: of course if the lowest hanging part of the frame has to be 27 inches (looked it up this time) then you could always weld a 5 inch "extension" on the frame which would effectively become the lowest hanging part of the frame. mpount some step on it and you are then fully legal. In regards to the tires 39.5 is the biggest that is legal in cali

Message: I might just be legal because the four-link bracket hangs down below 27 inches.
