Subject: 33's with 3"body on 4x4 Q's IP: Logged
Message: I need some very specific answers on this one here. I am only 18, so I can't afford to "undo" the tire size if they rub.
I also like the look of a good amount of wheelwell space so take this into consideration. If I had the money, I would also do a 3" Rancho lift and the body lift but I just can't.
I have:'99, cc, 5.2, 4x4, 15x8" wheels,3.55 gears
I want to do: PA 3" body and plan to crank torsion bars about 1-1.5" and 2" block or add-a-leaf in back because its a cheap way to go up more.
I want to run 33x12.5 BFG Muds on stock rims with this set up. Anyone with this please let me know if the tires rub and where and also when.
Did you have to trim? If so, where and how much did you take off.
If the 33x12.5's rub with stock rims, which rims should I get (CHEAP) for different backspacing.
What kind of gas milage would I expect with this set up. Bone stock truck and 31x10.5" tires I get 14 city, 17 freeway.
Would my truck be too much of a dog with 33's and my 3.55 diff gears. How much is it for a gear swap to like a 3.75? or 3.92?
Or, should I just be safe than sorry and go with some BFG All Terrain 32x11.5" on stock rims because I know this will work no prob.
Thanks very much for your time everyone. Happy Muddin'

Message: i am currently running 33x12.5x15 on yes the stock wheels with cranked torsion bars. they will rub. i cut some plastic in the fender well by the bottom, from the bottom of the well closest to the ground i cut about 2-3.5 inches up.it fixed the plastic part but it also rubs frame, just a little though at full turn but doesnt bother me. that can be trimmed too but time is little for me these past weeks.
no you wont need gears at all im runnning yokohama geolander a/t and the truck picks up just fine and gas milage is changed very little you wont notice.
even after the torsion bars being cranked i wouldnt touch the rear end because it still wont be higher in the front, it will be just level.
i know you can get some american racing black wheels for really cheap but i like the look of stock and rubbing isnt that much of an issue.
good luck and install is a breeze

Message: I have a '99 sport std cab, 5.2 4x4 392 posi and have installed the PA3" body lift and I'm running BFG33x12.5 MT's on the stock 15x8 rims. I only rub the frame slightly on full turns and the tire hits nothing else. I guess it could depend on who installs the lift and where the cab is sitting on the frame when refastened. I've have a friend that used a heat gun to reposition his plastic fender well while still on his truck to get rid of his minor rubbing.

Message: I just installed the PA 3" body lift on my '98 4x4 3.9L. I bought American Racing Baja rims for $110 each at Summit racing. Mounted up 285/75/R16 Bridgestone Dueler A/T. That tire is only 11.5" wide compared to the 12.5" wide 33" tire, which stops it from rubbing on the frame. The Dueler is still a 33" tire, just narrower. I had to trim the bottom 3" off of the back of the front wheel wells. The American Racing wheels have an backspacing of 4.5" compared to stock 5.5", which helps prevent frame rubbing. Hope this helps.
