Subject: 15x10 rims and bearing stress? IP: Logged
Message: Guys i want to run Eagle 589's on my truck. Id like to go with the 10" over the 8" just for looks. The owner of the 4 x 4 shop said i was nuts and he dont put 10" rims on anything, all 8". He said it would be really hard on the wheel bearings. I know all about the rubbing and triming, im cool with that. Guys that have have them, any problems, regrets? Thanks.

Message: The only time this is a problem is when you have very little backspacing ie. a deep dish wheel. In this case it's kinda like them little cars with the wheelspacers...

Message: 589's have little backspacing. 3.25 I believe. That will cause additional ball joint wear and other stress.

Message: I have 33" tires and 15x8 589's. I had my front right wheel bearing go out and the dodge dealer blamed it on the tires. I figure if a truck can't handle 33's and 15x8 rims then it isn't a truck. Anyway, they fixed it under warranty and I haven't had any problems since. Personally I think it was a bad bearing. The seal basically exploded, which doesn't happen too often.
