 Subject: take off top spindle ball joint

How do I knock off the top Spindle ball joint, without destroying that rubber boot around it. The pickle fork will mess the boot up, can you just beat it with a sledge till it knocks off?

put the nut back on the stud and tap it with an air hammer with a flat bit

i am a mechanic at a firestone here in onio in my past experiance to get most of these off and on my own truck is to hit the spindle with a hammer at the base of the ball jouint a couple of goo dhit two or three and it will pop loose with ease
