Subject: XTerrain vs. BF Goodrich MUDD IP: Logged
Message: OKay okay so here's the question.
What is the tread life like on the Pro Comp X Terrains? I was gunna buy some BF Goodrich Mudds but now you guys got me thinkin about those XTerrains. Plus I read a review on 6 off road tires and said that the xterrains were much better than the MUDDS. So which will last longer and how many miles do they actually last (more strret driving than dirt)? Thanks

Message: I have owned both. Both are very good. The BFG MT's will outlast any other comparable MT out there. Except the Pro Comp XT's. Thats what I am running now. I have had them on since last August when I did my lift and I cant tell ANY significant wear. The truck gets driven daily to work and back and everywhere else. Off road IN most situations I think the BFG's run a CLOSE second to the XT's. I think the one place the BFG's might have a bit of an advantage is in really thick soupy mud. The BFG's tread lugs are a bit more open and would paddle through a bit easier. The XT's will still go through, the BFG's will probably just do it a bit easier. I really love my XT's. Still like the BFG's. I would feel perfecetly comfortable with with either tire. I will say that the XT's do seem to have a bit of a traction edge over the BFG's off road in most situations. But it is a minimal advantage. Neither is going to be a long wearing tire like an all terrain or street tire. But either will last you much longer than most of the competition.
Blizz, how are your Mickeys wearing?

Message: The Mickeys? They're wearing GREAT sitting in the garage! lol
I took them off for the winter and am running the stock wheels and BFGs right now. Figured I might as well save some wear and tear on the tires and keep my new wheels away from the road salt. I'm sure the BFGs do much better in the snow anyway.
I dunno if the Xterrains would outlast the BFG mud T/A's or not. Never owned either tire. Hawk, I doubt you would see much wear on any tire since August. How many miles have you put on them so far?

Message: Bout 8,000 give a take a mile. But the vast majority of it has been on the street and highway. In the same time period, my BFG MT's were showing a tad bit of wear. Nothing major but enough I could tell it when I rotated them. Like I said, both will last much longer than most other brands.

Message: Glad I got that XT's, after seeing them for the first time I decided they were the tire for my Dak without knowing anything about them. I don't like to go on appearance alone especially when spending that many clams. But, after asking Hawkeye about them sometime in November and reading his glowing response, I was ready. The Four Wheeler Magazine's test of 6 tires where the XT's came out the overall winner just put the final nail in the coffin, looks and ability. Since my uncle owns a auto repair/tire shop, I asked him to hook up with 4WheelParts as a Wholesale Dealer so we could order the tires at wholesale and save some $$. My wife ordered them for me as an xmas present(someone slipped and told me when I said I was getting ready to order them so I had to wait), I ended up with the XT's mounted to Hellcats since we saved enough $$ to pay for a couple of the wheels and she knew the set-up I wanted!! Even better is everything else I want for my truck at wholesale prices through 4WheelParts. I really wish spring would get here!

Message: I am sure he would be happy to help you, I saw you were looking at doing a GB. I will have him check tomorrow for pricing, we could probably run a GB through wholesale and save you guys a few more bucks off. I have found on lifts if you are buying just one kit, we would nearly pay the same price through wholesale as the pricing of internet suppliers shipped to your door, that sucks and is why many four-wall business owners have been protesting no sales tax on most internet purchases since it makes an uneven playing field for the little guy who has a shop trying to make a buck and save his customers a few bucks. It really boils down to a volume issue, but if we were to order 2-5 Rancho kits I think you could see some good savings from retail GB pricing. Other manufacturers of lifts like Superlift and Tuff Country lifts may be a a different story though, if you are interested in TC lift, I can see if we can hook up with them as a wholesaler/distributor and save you some $$ even on just one kit. They could do the install for you too at his shop if needed. Any other accessories, parts, bolt-ons you are considering let me know and I can get some pricing for you so you can save some $$ and deal with someone "local". For the past 25 years, his speciality has been tires/wheels so he gets volume pricing and can beat almost anyone's prices!! For the past 5 years or more he has been getting into the custom add-ons like Installation's Unlimited.

Message: Ok, I have had a set of 35 XT for about half a year, and I love them. Down here, we do just about every kind of off-roading, and out of all my friends, from swampers to MT's, Im the only one who hasnt been stuck! These tires are great, I have no regrets. I still have not noticed any wear what soever, and I have 10,00+ on them. Go Pro Comp!

Message: Hey knobby, you could use them for yard planters! They might even look cool as end tables if you armor-alled them and got a piece of glass to sit on top of them. Man, I really hope they get your truck fixed. I really hope they are gonna give you your money back. They shouldn't have made this so public cause I think they pretty much have lost alot of sales to us here. I know they have from me.
