Subject: tire sizes for 4x2

Message:
I am saving to put a body lift on my truck before winter hits and was curious on tire size. I have a 99 Dak Sport ext. cab and it is 2wd.... I will eventually put a fabtech suspension lift on also, but cheaper things first (maybe rancho if I save up more). The fabtech says to use 15"x7" wheels with a 3 3/4 backspacing.....is it only restricted to that wheel size? If so, can someone explain why?

Also, I see they also say to use 31" tires....but can it handle larger than that? I want some fat looking tires and not just the skinny tall type....which means I'd want a 32"-34".....and final question, would all of this kill my gas mileage? (I am looking to add a new throttlebody, cool air intake, new exhaust, and a tune up...so those will give some gas mileage)
