Subject: ball joint IP: Logged
Message: got an 01' dakota, had it dropped 2"/4"... now im lifting it back to stock but the ball joints wont drop so i cant remove the springs... WHAT DO I DO TO SEPPARATE THE BALL JOINT FROM THE UPPER CONTROL AND THE SPINDLE??? plz help guys truck is just sittin in the garrage...
ps. got a chassis tech drop kit now for sale.

Message: 1. You can use a "pickle fork" (tool used to separate just that). They can be purchased at any auto parts store.
2. You can smack it at the joint with a small(2lb) sledge hammer. Sometimes the shock of the blow with the hammer will get it to release.
3. Or check with a parts store like Advance Auto, Kragens, Trak Auto, etc. Sometimes they loan/ rent tools for special applications.
4. I believe when I did mine to put the lift on I used a large 1" wide cold chisel, put it underneath the nut while it was at the end of the threads, then smacked down on it so as to pry the ball joint loose.
