Subject: Question for forexfour...and similar IP: Logged
Message: How is the Rancho lift working for you? I have a 2000 Durango 4x and have been waiting 3yrs now for a lift kit. I was excited to find out that Rancho finally released one. The price quote I got for the kit, with the 9000sx shocks is outrages though. How much did they get you for?
I will have more questions if I can get it for allot less than I was just quoted...sheeesh.

Message: The lift is fine and I use my truck off road. The biggest issue is the re location of the ball joints. You can not run wide tires on stock rims.
Price I got mine for was around $1570.00, I think cant remember the exact number but I paid a little less than Group buy price with out shocks but I got the shocks included for that price. I was not part of the group buy.
Install was a grand at my mechanics shop and was completed in the specified time limit in the instructions with 1 guy over 2 days.
Have you checked out my site for the photo's?

Message: Hmmm. The email I got from Rancho gave me two kit numbers. One was for the front suspension, the other was for the main suspension; which I assume is the rear. The prices you guys mention, was for both kits? If so I really need to get in on one of these group buy's. How can I get in on one?
Also, even though I have never installed a lift kit I have no fear. If I can totally rebuild a Harly by myself Im sure I can do a lift kit. The only thing that gets me is the exhaust mod. I wonder if I can get a flex hose of some sort as a temp section until I can drive into a muffler shop? I wonder if they make something like that?
forexfour,
yes I checked out your photos. Hastily, but I did. I got to go back and check out what it was that you had to cut. I also downloaded the installation manual and will print that off and read it.
I really really want to get more clearance and some bigger tires. Before getting the Durango I had a Bronco so I really miss the clearance and 4wd ability that it had. If I knew that I would not be able to get a 6 inch lift I never would have bought it.
Thanks for the input guy's, I appreciate it!

Message: Hastily!!! LMAO!
Not sure what you mean about front and main suspension kits. Here is what you want:

As far as the install goes as long as you dont mind or can use a cutter to do the drop down of the tranny crossmember you will be ok.

Message: Hey Chris,
Yeah, hastily. I was getting ready to leave and was waiting for the wife to get ready. Been back a few times since to check out all the pictures. Cool site. Ill keep checking back to see your new adventures.
Ahhh Pismo, have not been there in years. I will never forget one night as we were arriving, the tide was comeing in. There was an area where you had to time your crossing when the water was going out so we were waiting our turn. Some j@ack@ass in a baja bug did not want to wait his turn and raced by everyone. The water was on it's way out but was still so deep that it picked up the bug and pulled it out to sea. We didnt stick around to see if the guy ever got his car back in or what. Idiot.
I just emailed Rancho. I need to know what the differance is between the RS6560 you point too, and the RS8714 and RS6561 they mention in thear first email to me. NAPPA quoted me 2700 for the two kits with 9000X shocks. For that kind of money I better get a whole lot more than just a basic lift! Like skid plates, torssion bars, and new upper and lower suspension bars.

Message: I called and found the price to be $1359.99 for the RS6560 lift and $83.99 per shock.
I am not sure about this RS8714 lift, maybe it is a conversion or something for the '03's. The RS6561 is for the Durango's.
Speaking of new adventures we were just out yesterday Bouncing around and climbing hills. Still Good!!!
Pismo is a great place! Smaller now due to the good old Sierra Clubs!
Call around and use the where can I buy option on Rancho's site.
