 Subject: Tire size confusion

How do you compute tire sizes anyhow? Like people have 33 x 12.5 tires. My truck has 215/75-15 tires. What's the deal? I suck at math.
Anyhow, if you stop laughing at my question, what is the biggest tire I can put on my dak without any lift?

Sounds like you have 15x7 wheels. Could possibly fit 31x10.5x15s on there. I have some for sale with only 5000k on them if you are interested. Here is what they look like on my 15x8 wheels. These are the best highway truck tires that I've ever had ... just wish they made them in a larger size. Only reason I'm selling them is because I got 33s after the 3" body lift.

Actually, my tires are 235/75-15. You think I can get 31 x 10.5's on there, Tracy?
Will a tire shop (ie. Discount tire) stick some 31's on my truck to see for sure?

you multiply the aspect ratio by the width since
the ratio is 75% of 235mm it is .75times 235=
176.25mm tall convert to inches devide by
25.4 mm=6.9in times 2 +rim size 15 =29in

I don't know why they shouldn't. Ryan is right and your size right now is 29"x9.3"x15" I would recommend that you be there when they put the first tire on ... the front tires will be where is a problem, if any. I know that I've seen an '00+ 2wd Dakota with 31" tires, but they are normally on 15x8 wheels and I'm fairly certain that you have 15x7 wheels. Do your wheels look like the first(15x7) or the second(15x8) picture?

Actually Tracy, these are my wheels. I've only ever seen one or two other dakotas around with this type of wheel.

www.procomptires.com and click on the tire conversion calculator... not an exact science, but pretty close. I have a stock 2002 QC and just ran into this - the biggest I could put on without rubbing were 275/70r16, which translates into 31.3 x 10.8... The BFG All-Terrain T/A ko looks sweet in that size - look bigger than they are cause of the tread and all...

Anyone interested in buying four BRAND NEW Goodyear Wrangler MTR's? They are size 285.75 R16 (equivalent to a 33x11.50) and have not been used at all.
(if you want) The tires also come with four brand new 16x8 factory wheels from Dodge. These rims are in flawless condition as well.
I am selling this package because I have to trade my Dakota in for a car, and I don't really plan on fitting 33 inch tires on it. So take advantage of this deal because I intend to sell them at a bargain price. If you are interested please email me with questions/comments and I would be more than happy to reply.
