Subject: 33" tires on a dakota v6
IP: Logged

Message:
I was wondering if a dakota with a v6 would pull 33" tires good. I am also planning on putting a chip and performance exhaust on it also.

What would I have to do other than a 3" body lift for these to fit.

I was just wondering because this is my first post. thanks

Depending on what gears you have in the truck now you would probably have to re-gear. The best thing to do is find out what gears you currently have, and after the 33's are on see if the truck is "searching" for gears. More than likely it will then you can decide on 3.92, 4.10, or 4.56 gears. For a little extra boost you may want to look into the Fastman Throttle body, and Intense Performance intake for some other mods that will help.

V-6 50 series flowmaster with a Hi flow Cat. The rut got the better part of the run but the sound bite should help.

Also, I ran 33x12.5x15 MT's on stock with some rubbing at full articulation. I have the Hanson bumper that helps for clearance but I now have the 3" Rancho lift so I no longer have any rub issues.

My link below will take you to 1 of 2 sites I have. Lots of Photo's before and after lift and lots of video clips.

Maybe you are the one who I just spoke with on e-mail. Maybe not and it is just a coincidence.

I believe with a body lift you will still need to do some trimming to clear the 33's.

cop_out2000 is right, you'll be happier if you change the gear ratio to at least a 4.10. Up the performance to make up for meats your dragging around. You might even want to add a True speed or Abbot gear box for the computer and speedometer.

Wouldn't want any other!

I have 32" MT/R's with 3.55 gears and a V6. I also have
a manual tranny, and so far it isn't too bad! Iwouldn't
want the same set up and a auto tranny. It lacks a bit of
power on the start, but once you get rolling, it's all right.
Stealwings: where do you get this True Speed or Abbott
Gear box from? One thing i did notice is that my speedo
is way out.

Tru-speed is at www.superlifts.com

This is what I have on mine. It has 2 setings for tires. I run 255x85x15 AT street tires and 33x10.5x15 MT tires they are different by an 1" inflated.

So when I swap out for off roading I just flip the switch to get the accurate reading. It is cal'd to GPS.

I am running a Gibson dual cat-back exhaust with 3.5" tips. Everyone asks if it's a 4.7 or 5.2 under the hood. They always give me a strange look when I tell them it's a 3.9. It has a nice deep tone to it.

the site is www.gibsonperformance.com Sorry, I don't have any way to get the sound on the net. I'd say the tone is a little deeper & louder then a stock v8. My father also has a 97, but with an eight, and he didn't mess with his at all. That's about all I can tell ya.

Anyone interested in buying four BRAND NEW Goodyear Wrangler MTR's? They are size 285.75 R16 (equivalent to a 33x11.50) and have not been used at all.

(if you want) The tires also come with four brand new 16x8 factory wheels from Dodge. These rims are in flawless condition as well.

I am selling this package because I have to trade my Dakota in for a car, and I don't really plan on fitting 33 inch tires on it. So take advantage of this deal because I intend to sell them at a bargain price. If you are interested please email me with questions/comments and I would be more than happy to reply. More pictures are available as well.
