Message: Hi man, just here to help alittle. I myself have a 1990 2wd Dak. What is it you want to do exactly? Just go high as possible, off road, show, etc. There are not too many 2wd lifts out there. A company named AIM ind. makes a few. But I have had no personal expierence with them as of yet. I will very soon.
They have a 3in suspension lift. One is coil springs and upper A arms, the other is coils upper and lower A arms. 1st one is like $350.00, second is like $800.00! Go with the 1st, not a bad price. Or you can go with a body lift from trailmaster or perf. accessories. I went with a 3in trailmaster and am very happy with it.
AIM has multiple rear lifts. Shackles, hangers, flip kits, etc. Its up to you and your needs.
Good luck

Message: What kinda height? Like 31in tires, or possibly 33in tires. If you want to stand out. Get the AIM 3in suspension lift, and a 3in body lift. you could run 32's at least. Hopefully soon AIM will come out with some 3in lift spindles and then we are set my man. 35x12.50s. They said months ago in Jan 02 they would start. Now that is delayed some months.
Good luck.
Joe E.
And if you do these lifts, I would have them done at 1 time by a shop. Than go have your truck front end alighened. It will do a number on your tires if not. Just save up and get it all at once.

Message: I also have a 94 2wd ext cab that i want to put a lift on. I have seen a couple of options. A leveling kit from daystar, a 2" lift kit from rough country which is just spacers in the front and blocks in the rear, I have also looked at the AIM stuff. The AIM lifts seem to be the best option for a 2wd lift but I have yet to hear anything good about AIM. I have also heard that the 2" rough country kit is really hard to install, not really sure why though. If anyone has some more input on 2wd lifts I would love to hear it.
Does any one know what the biggest tire that can fit on a 91-96 2wd dakota? I have also been looking new wheels (mickey thompson classic II 15x8)or backspacing the original wheels which are 15x6 to get a bigger tire on there.
any thoughts would be great

Message: Hey guys, About the Rough country lift. Yeah it was hard to install, so said my shop mechanic. The reason is that the 2in spacer added to the stock coil leaves very little space to get the rest of the suspension back together and still have reasonable alignment. The shop said it was very time consuming.
About AIM, alot of people here say bad things about them. But from what I have seen, none of these statements are first hand. All are hearsay. They say the AIM lifts dont leave much suspension articulation and its stiff. Well, the type of light off roading I do, I dont need tons of articulation. My 3.9L 31 in tire dak is not a serious mud dowg. Just a higher crusier. I dont care about hard off roading, in the mountain, rock sense. As soon as I get funds, I will be buying the 3in susp. lift from AIM, and also the 3in lift spindles when they come out in a while.
Big Red, I would suspect that a 215-75-15 would be the largest tire to fit on a stock Gen II Dak. Same as my 1990 2wd Dak. MT Classic II wheels are very nice. Over a year ago, I started to fix up my Dak. That was to be my first purchase. 15x8 MT Classic IIs. But they were not coming out for another 2 months from then, so I went with Amer. Racing Nitros. Nice by the way!
Talk to yall later. Good Luck

After you got the rough country lift on have you had any problems with it? For $99 it seems pretty tempting. I would like to be able to get at least a 30 or 31x9.50 on there. From your experience with it would you recommend the rough country lift?

Message: Big Red,
What do you want to do with your truck? If you are not trying to run 35 inch tires, or not planning to go very deep into the off roading thing, the rough Country 2in lift would work for you. Other than it being hard to install for my shop, I have had absolutely no problem with it. But you must realize, you will need a front alignment. Or your tires will suffer bad!
For myself, I am attempting to run 33x12.50s BFG muds. Thats my goal. I regret not installing the AIM 3in suspension lift due to my goal. The difference is only an inch of lift but sonsidering it only takes 6in of lift to get like a Chevy up there, an inch is significient. I will probably still install that lift in the future.
MY point: Look into the future! If you see your self persuing lifting more, go for the AIM 3IN, if you only want 30-31in tires, the RC 2in lift is just fine.
Good luck with you quest the guys.
I hope I helped!

The top is a new address in the latest Four Wheeler. Dont know if it works, havent tried it yet. The second one is the address I am familiar with. But maybe the switched to the top on now. Take both and try them.
To be truthful with you. The Rough Country 2in lift took a long time to install and did not really put me up that high. It was done as a temporary thing until another co like AIM came out with a lift. Now they have and I am really thinking hard about doning it! I would save up the extra cash and go for the AIM 3in. Plus, right now if you buy a front and rear lift, they will install it at one of their shops nation wide. Miami is the closest to me. Installaition gets you too. it was $240 for my 2in RC install. Only $100. for the lift itself. Go figure.
Hope this helps.

Message: Tyler, the 3in lifts are it. The rack and pinion halt anything after that. AIM is the only co I know of that has a 3in suspension lift. They have the $379.00 one that gives you coils, and upper A arms. Sounds like your best bet. Let me know how your rear lift comes out. I have been thinking about doing that for a bit now. Thanks.

Message: I have a four inches of lift in my 90' 2wd Dak. Two inch body and two inch RC suspension. I have not haa problem from it and I instald it myself. But if you want to run 31x10.50 you can just put a 2in body in it, and you can run them fine. They ran fine for me. I just got more clearance from the 2in RC. And on a stock 2wd dak 215 aren't the highest you can run because I had stock 235's which is equivalent to a 29.5.

Message: Brandon, do you run stock wheels or wheels with stock backspacing? I have a 90 2wd Dak too. I also have the RC 2in spacer lift and a 3in body lift. And I do have rubbing problems in reverse at full steering lock. Not much anymore but I did. Tires must have worn a bit.
On a 4x4, you can run a 31 with a 2in body lift. But not on a 2wd.
Nick, the 4in lift you found is the Trailmaster right? It only runs on 4x4 I am sure. Us 2wd people dont have anything but a 3in. Its all our Rack and pinion can take. 4x4s have a standard steering system so they can run 4in and up. Soryy for the uncool info my friend. Lifting a dak is tough.

Message: No prob man, trust me, I wish the 4in trailmaster would work. Id love it my self. The 3 in lifts I talk about are made my AIM ind. Now I am not sure about their products. I have bought lift shackles from them and they are of good quality. But another GenIII 2wd guy named Knobbyman bought a brand new lift from them and he has had a rough time with it.
No that that is outa the way, the 3in lift uses 3in larger coil springs. With those come a set of upper control arms. (You must have them with a 3in lift to have alignment.) Thats it. The rear has a variety of choices. Fliping it, which would give you around 4 inches. Or shackles for 2-3 in, or hangers for another 3 inches. 1.5-2 in add-a-leafs (but dont bother, I have them and they aint worth the trouble if you want more than 1-2 inches). It up to you. Check it all out at www.truckinsuspension.com They got all kinds of stuff.
Like I said earlier, I have wanted to do this lift for a while now but I am a college student at the Univ. of Fla. and cant afford too much right now. Add a 3in body lift to all this and you could run 32-33 in tires probably. Of course with proper wheel backspacing. Hope all this helps.
