 Subject: fitting 33" tires

I have a 2000 4x4, and would like to put 33" tires under it with the factory 15x8" rims. I see BF goodrich makes 33" tires to fit it, but I want to know if they will rub with a three inch body lift? I really don't want to have to do any trimming.

Anthony ... just put a 3" lift on my '00 4x4 QC and am getting 33s very soon. Will let you know if I have to do any trimming (although I have AE 149s with a larger offset than the factory rims, so I can get mine to fit you shouldn't have a problem). I'm fairly certain that I won't, but each truck is slighly different and what might rub on one may not on another. Definitely depends on the tire too! I know there are guys one this website that have done what you plan to do without any rubbing. I have also done a "torsion bar lift" that raised up the front end about an inch or so to level it out and give me a little more room for those tires. You might want to think about doing the same thing. It is a fairly simple procedure and I could send you some pics if you need them. The valance is where you will normally get the rubbing. I also read where one guy said that you could move the front bumper out just a hair to get rid of the rub.

i just put my body lift and 33 in. BFG m/ts and mine rub a little..It only rubs when im turning and at a slope at the same time. I trimmed just a little( you cant even tell) The rubbing isnt even coming off the fron t bumper,,Its rubbing on the rear part of the front fender........But the only difference betweenmine and yours is that i also put the eagle 589's on and they have lllow backspacing which makes the tires stick out about 2 inches........You might not have any probs with stock wheels but i have no clue cuz im kinda new to this too...........

I have the 33x10.5 BFG's on a factory rim w/ no problems at all, but I am going to be changing the wheels (different offset) and the tires to 33x12.5 BFG's in about a week. I put the 3" body lift on & did the shackle/t-bar lift (1.75") on my 00 Durango 4x4. I'll let you know how the new wheels and tires fit.

I just put the 33x12.5x15 BFG AT's on w/ some new extreme alloy wheels (3.25"B.S.) and I now have some rubbing on the front valance. There is also a little rubbing on the area right behind the front tire, but it is not that bad. Nothing that a some minor trimming can't handle. It only rubs when I am getting close to full lock.

To not enough BS on those rims, that is why you are rubbing. Your turn radius has changed in the wheel well and you basically moved the rubbing out further than those with more BS. It is easier to trim a little off the black plastic in the well than the flares and valance. But still fixable just have to trim differently.

Anyone have any pictures of 33x12.5x15's on 15x8 rims? I have 31x10.5x15's right now and really want to do 33's. A couple of places tell me that they wouldn't mount 12.5's on 8" rims. I'm curious to know what they will look like and if anyone has had any problems in doing so besides a slight rub here or there. I have a 3" body lift and the torsion bar lift, so the rub should be slight if any.

If you stick with the stock wheels, you should have no problem with 32x11.50s but you will probably have to raise your torsion bars a tad. If you are using aftermarket wheels with a lower backspacing, you might have some rubbing issues.

David, I had 32x11.5 on my 97 with no lift. The only rubbing I had was when I turned hard they would hit the frame.

I had 33X14.50 Mickeys on 10in wide Welds on my 99 Dak., with the 5.5 Tuff Country lift and they rubbed really bad. I even hacked the fenders and they still rubbed bad.
I don`t think it would be possible with only a 3in. body lift.

I would have to agree that I don't think it is even remotely possible with only a 3" body lift. I have 33x12.5 BFG AT's on 15x8 AE 149's with a 3" body lift and the torsion bars cranked at least 1.5" and they rubbed on the front valance before trimming. And they come very close to the rear part of the fender well. Another 2" in width would definitely make them rub at both ends. Good luck Jesse!
