Subject: question about coil spacers IP: Logged
Message: would the coil spacers form Auto Zone work as well as the ones you pay $85 for? i'm not talking about the little knobs that you put between the coils, but the doghnut type. if so, why pay $50-85 when you pay something like $15 for some rubber ones? if their to big around couldn't you cut them down to fit? any help on this subject would greatly help.
Thanks,
josh

Message: Josh, stay away from the coil spacers that cost $15 bucks! Skyjacker came out with a set of those a few years back and all they did was fall out whenever the spring maxed out. Go with a company like Daystar for all your needs.

Message: The Daystar spacers are actually shaped like dounuts with a recessed lip. They fit in between the coil spring and upper spring basket unlike the other ones which fit between the coils to spread them apart to achieve lift. The Daystar spacers I used were designed for the 88-98 Chevy full-size truck. Daks use about the same size spring diameter as the Chevy so matching them up is no problem. You don't want to use anymore than a 2" spacer since the ball joints will get maxed out and you'll loose travel with anything taller. Just go to www.DaystarWeb.com to find them.

Message: no no no man, haha, the ones at Auto Zone are the same style as what you're talking about. the only differince is that they're rubber insted of polyurethane. so the question still stands would they work or no?

Message: Try them out if your not sure! If they fit then they will work, but the quality and durability on the cheap ones will really suck. Thats about it.
I ordered the Daystar 2" spacers for my truck and they were designed for the newer 2wd Dakotas. I didn't need them so I took them back. Considering you'll only be saving about 40 bucks, I would honestly go for the Daystars instead. But, like I said before, IF the cheaper ones fit, then they will probably work if thats what you really want. I know what QUAD2NV is talking about (the ones that insert in the middle of the coils) and he's right, those really suck! Don't ever use that cheap stuff on suspension... hehe, I know from experience! ;- )

Message: Hey man, I got a 2in spacer lift from Rough country. It has 2in spacers for front (the dounut with the recessed edge), rear add a leafs, and 4 new heckelthorn extended shocks. Mine is for a 1990 2wd. Give them a call. Its like $100-150 bucks.

Message: I went to the daystar website and the msrp is $140. Is that right? That seems awfully high for spacers.

Message: Try JC Whitney, they have the Daystar 2" lift for front in their catolog for 89.99. They also have the Rough Country complete 2" lift for only 109.99. That's who I'm buying mine from. I have a 90 2WD Dakota.
