Subject: 2"coil spacer the way to go for me? IP: Logged
Message: Ive been looking for lift kits for a while now. Ive found 2 suspension kits, but one is 650$ and the other is 350$. theyre a bit high. I have a 89 2wd dakota and I dont have a big wad of cash to blow. I recently decided to buy the 2" body lift kit instead of using hockey pucks. but was curious, how would the 2" coil spacers ($100)compare to the 3" long coil and a-arms do? This is mostly for street but it will occasionally be in the mud. Is coil spacers the way to go for me? Also, what would have to be done as far as alignment and xtra needed/

Message: Well keep in mind that the 3 inch long coil is made by AIM. Not many people have been satisfied with AIM products. The 2 inch spacers are what i have, and they have been fine so far. The only thing is the spacers make your ride very stiff. But be prepared to spend some extra money getting the shop to install it unless you have a spring compressor. Also, the spacers usually dont fit all the way so you end up only getting about 1 1/2 of lift in the front. But it looks great.

Message: Donno man. ieft you another reply on the off road board. I know AIM is a questional comany as far as the daks go. but they have made tons of lift and drops for everyone else. They even won awards at SEMA for their work. Donno what that means but I am going to try that lift before too long. Im sick of looking at at fords and chevys all the time. I want to run at least 32x11.50s.
The spacers are ok but i am worried about them comming loose sometimes. They are not attached by much. Just by gravity of the trucks downward force. So If you went airborn, you might pop it out. Or if you hit it hard sideways, it might flop out. if all your doing is street, maybe so. If your gonna mud run, its you truck... later.
I ve had spacers for 2 years now by the way, rough country. Theyve been alright but I heard wierd ounds sometimes when hitten dirty areas in light mud and sand. So far they havent broke, but I am going to loose them soon for 3in coils.
Again, later and good luck.

Message: Who makes and where could I get them coils that would bring it up to 3" of lift? im 16 so i dont have high funds. i wont be putting it through too much hell because its my daily driver, but im not going to be scared of mud. Anyway, Did you have to get camber adjusted at all or have your truck re-aligned? anything else I should know?

these are the only front coil spacers I found on jcwhitney. I read on here that the daystar spacers were there but I couldnt find them. would these provide 3" of lift?

Message: Mudrunner-
The spacers are made by Rough Country and i think, they cost 75 for the spacers and the rear add-a-leaves. Or you can pay 200 for the lift and new shocks. That is from Rough Country. (note-On the rough Country website, the lift is not listed but if you call them they DO have it.)
From JC Whitney as u saw, they charge 100 bucks for just the lift. But the info on there is wrong, in the rear it is add-a-leaves not blocks. Blocks would lower our trucks becuase the leaves are under the axles.
If you dont have a lot of cash, im not sure i would risk putting on that lift from AIM. It might work fine as "Mitch" from AIM says. But you never know and if it doesn't work it could screw your truck up. Knobbyman had a lift from them and it screwed his truck up. But as Joe says, they have won awards and are a popular company. Many lowered trucks use AIM.
Anyways, do you have the 2 inch body lift? Have a good one

Message: Thanx for the info on the lifts. For 200$ from Rough Country, what does the lift include, just spacers, shocks and rear add-a-leafs? Im stuck between if I should put out the 200$ from rough country or just order from jcwhitney when I order my body lift. Do you have a part number for the lift from Rough Country for 200$?
