Well, I finally lifted my 98 Dakota. PA 3" body lift, 33x12.50 R15 Courser MT's, and Smittybilt nerfs. I love it. I'm riding a little taller and getting lots of compliments, especially on the tires. Next minor mods are going to be to change the ugly teal lettering and change the muffler. It looks rather tough now (as compaired to before) but it sounds pretty whimpy. I'm not sure what type of muffler to put on to make it sound like it's got balls.
I do have one concern though. Since I put the lift and new tires on, when I take a sharp turn at high and medium speeds, I can hear a knocking sound. I tried to isolate where it may be coming from but I haven't been able to tell. Sometimes it sounds like it's coming from the passenger side and sometimes from the drivers side. Any idea what may be causing it? I dont' think I missed anything. No parts were left over.
I'll try and post some picks soon, when I figure out how to.

the sound is probably your tires hitting your frame and or fenders.

what engine do you have in it. if it's a 98, do you have the 318, or is it a v-6. Flowmaster works great for the dodge engines. I've got the 4.7 with a flowmaster 40 series on it with one inlet and two outlets. I've got the two pipes routed past the rear axle and turndown right there after the axle and they sound mean. I don't know if you'll have the same results, but i have never heard a bad exhaust note from a flowmaster and would never buy any other kind of muffler. hope that helps

If that knocking is coming at full turns then Yes it may be the tires rubbing on the frame. You will see the marks on the frame too. You need atleast 1/2" or more of less Backspacing in rims to stop frame rub but then you change the tire swing in the wheel well when turning so you will now most likely have to trim to clear those tires comfortable and wheel it without rubbing.
If not at full turns then you may have a ball joint problem. to check this raies you truck with a floor jack under the control arm to release the pressure on the ball joints. grab the tire and try to see if it has play side to side or up and down if so look at the upper or lower joints to see which one is going. Your tire should not move if the joints are good. I do this check when swapping out tires and before I go wheeling. I also check the boots for cracks and they just started to crack so they are being replaced with MOOG's next Sunday.

skipdawg91, is that flowmaster loud? I'm looking for a muffler that isn't really louder, but would flow better. Maybe I'll change out the converter. You have a part number on your muffler? What are these? 2" in 2" out offset?

My tires do rub at full turn, but this is not a rubbing problem. It sounds more like what forexfour described. I'll have to jack it up try that. I hope its not ball joints. If they are bad, are they expensive to replace??
shipdawg- I have the 318, 5.2L in my truck. I'll look into the flowmaster. Thanks for the tip.
