Subject: 3" Sus lift or 3" body? IP: Logged
Message: Hey everyone, i'm kind of throwing around a few ideas on what i should do to my 99 club cab 2wd dak. i really like the look on the body lifts, but then again, the sus lifts look great too. should i consider a 3" suspension and 2" body lift? If i do that i will run 35's but if one or the other i will definately run 33" 12.50 BFG MTs. probably 16x10 wheels, i have also considered 8" wheels, any advice on that matter as well? Thanks for looking, I'd appreciate any valuable info you guys have to offer.

Message: You won`t be running 35s, period , on a 2wd. With a 3in. body AND a 3in. susp. you will just clear 35s.

Message: your not gonna get 35's under there. unless you trim the hell out of your fenders and posible modify the body work with a hammer. especially on a set of 16x10 inch rims. 3inch body and 3inch suspension will yeild 33's most people run the 15x8's. I personally like 15x10's myself and run them. if you trim it right you can hardly tell the trimming has been done.
I hae 3inch suspension 31-12.50 on 15x10 inch rims, I have heard you can get 33's under a 4x4dak with just a two inch body lift. I'd like to see that as I would really rather have a 2inch body lift as opposed to a 3inch bodylift. I'll probable add a 2inch bl till I were out these tires then just go to a set of 32-11.50 32-12.50 when the time comes.

Message: Sorry , I`m having spelling issues today for some reason. I meant to say with both a susp. and body lift you will just clear 33s , but conig already cleared that up.

Message: Hey conig, can you supply a picture of your truck? yeah i might go with 15x10s. I will settle for nothing less than 33's. so should i go with a sus lift or body? money is not an issue, just going for looks and quality. i've got big plans to make my truck look as sweet as it can, after everything is all said and done with, i'll post up the pics in categorical order of all the upgraded stages that it will undergo. thanks for responding.

Message: Rich , you will HAVE to do BOTH , just to get 33s under a 2WD truck. There is no answer to one or the other....you are going to use both. No one makes a large enough susp. lift (yet) to fit 33s without the use of a body lift as well.
If money is no issue , go get a custom susp. built and add some wide fiberglass fenders and then run 35s.

Message: BOTH is right! You will need 6" of total lift to clear 33's on a 2wd. Even then, you might have a little rubbing at full wheel lock.

Message: Performance accessories bl for sure weither it be 2 or 3inches.
as for the suspension its up to preference, theres no doubt that the 3inch fabtech is the best but I went another rought, I used 2inch daystar coilspacers which will give 3inches of lift and rough country add-a-leaves. its alot cheaper then the fabtech but you loose downward travel never been a problem for me on the street or offroad but I'm not into the type of offroading were I need articualtion or alot of suspension travel.

Message: conig, did you go with 1.5" add-a-leaves on the rear? Also, have you had any trouble with potholes and such causing a lot of noise on the road? I have heard stories of that and would like to avoid it.
