Message: I've been thinking about this.. trying to figure out why we are so much more.. um.. civilized? then the people yelling and screaming about my truck is better then your truck.. blah blah blah SO WHAT?! but anyway I figured it out. We all have differen't things we want to do with our trucks. Some want to go play in the mud.. others the beach, some trails, others rocks and so on .. so basically even if we all won the lotto tomorrow *wouldn't that kick ass?* we all built up our trucks we'd all have "The Best Truck" and could say My trucks better then yours... it's all in the owners mind what is better. Tomato or Tomato? *GAH!! sounds better out loud not on paper* anyway just had to say it.

Message: Yeah, sounded good on paper too (I was born in Britain so the tomato-tomawwwto phrase is familiar). To each his own (a very zen concept). The screeching, competitive guys have so little faith in their own convictions (even if it's just a truck!) that anyone who thinks a little differently is a huge threat.

Message: I think this is the coolest thread I have read on this site. I am seriously sick of reading threads arguing the virtues of various brands of motor oils, or which Dakota motor is better than another. Who really cares? I don't think my Dakota is better than anyone else's, but I still love it!!! You made an excellent point, Lesley: if these guys spend this much time worrying about whether or not others approve of them (or their trucks), why do they own a Dakota in the first place? My guess is that they would be insecure about any automobile they happened to own because people who argue on this level are inherently insecure about everything. What I don't understand is why they seek approval from people who already own Dakotas. Wouldn't their time be better spent on a Chevy forum, or are they so insecure that they have to associate with people they know will approve of them?
*Sorry, I'm a psychologist :)

Message: I think that part of it, at least on my end, comes from the fact that in the off road world, you dont trash your friends because you never know when the time will come that you need their help off road. Every one will get stuck at some point and time if you go off road much. When Im stuck, I really dont care whether the guy pulling me out has a stock truck with a 3.9 or a superchared turbo blaster 5.9 Dak on 44 Boggers with 850 HP. As long as I get pulled out. It's completely pointless. Just my side of it.

Lesley,
Hope you dont get stuck either. It sucks trying to move the DAK by yourself. Of Course, I could take a trip North...well..West to help out. :)
Not that you are going to need any help...

Message: I couldnt agree more with you hawk. Last time I got stuck it was just starting to get dark on a saturday evening. I was in a spot that made it look like I wasnt even stuck. The first guy that tried to pull me was a lifted Tacoma with 2 quads in the bed. He couldnt do it(felt a little good). The next guy was in a CJ-7 and he couldnt do it. The third guy was in a brand new GMC Sierra and he pulled me out no sweat. My point is, when each of those guys pulled up to help me out, not once did I say to myself, "Oh no, not a Toyota", or "Oh no, not a GMC". I was just glad I was getting some help. What really hurt though is when the young guy in the Toyota said "I bet next time you wont be coming out here with your 2wd pick-up. What kind is that one anyway?" Me and my freind just looked at each other and it wasnt his fault the 4x4 symbold was burried in the mud, but the DODGE letters were plain as can be. Thats when I decided to make my dak a little more "offroad worthy". Its all ok though, I think his hot looking girlfreind who was with him kept undressing me with her eyes, ut thats a whole 'nother story altogeather=)

Message: Okay.... don't laugh. We had a major blizzard last winter, snow was waist high. I was parked on the street downtown and a station wagon died in front of me. I could not back out, one tire was in a hole & spinning. Walked 6 blocks for 2 bags of kitty litter to no avail.... a guy with a Subaru Outback and a good stout rope pulled me out.

Message: Least you didn't get stuck like I did..... This is back when I had my F-150 stock minus the tires Wrangler AT/S. I ended up backing up and my frame was on the ground w/ my rear tires in MUD! the front tires were on solid ground but my truck was a 4x2 so I was screwed. My friend in a 4x2 F-150 tried pulling me out but we snapped a 9,000 lb. tow strap. I ended up running 5 miles to the gas station because he got stuck right after he tried to get me out. There are usually some 4x4's up there but none were there :'( so I ended up calling a tow truck he had to lift my front end up off the ground w/ his 15,000 lb winch and then pulled me up onto his flat bed.. In the mean time my friend dug him self out with his hands. *That was interesting to watch* Yea.. whole morel of this story? Don't get stuck that bad b/c it'll end up costing you some serious $$ about $200 worth.

Message: I remember when I was younger...ok ok..so it was last year, I took my Dad's DAK (V6, 4x4) out with a friend a went wheeling. I buried the DAK up to the frame in soft grass/mud that wouldnt let me go. I ended up walking down to the store and waiting a couple hours for someone to stop by with a big 4x4 to help me out. Long story short, one came, (a diesel dually, Ford, 36" swampers...hehe...) pulled me out...in 2WD! Oh that was humiliating, but also kinda fun. A week later I went out and bought my own DAK to get stuck in, yes, the Red one you see next to my name. :) And yes...ive gotten stuck a bunch of times! The way i figure it..if you dont get stuck wheeling..your not trying hard enough. Ive found the limits of what my DAK can handle...have you??!!
