Subject: Lift? Tire? Gears? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 01 Dakota Club Cab 4.7 4x4 with 3.55 rear end with a 5spd manual. I want to get rid of my stock tires and move up to 33's but what do i need to do to make them fit i have the factory 16x8 rims and would like to keep them for now. I was looking at either BF or Goodyear MT in the size 305/70R16 but want to know how high to lift to minimize rubbing or no rubbing at all. I also have a Trailer and tow often usually about 4-5000 lbs. i was wondering if 4.11 or 4.56 would be better for what i do. Any info would be appreciated. What can i fit on my truck if i just crank the torsion bars up front to level it out. Also i dont want to do a body lift i only want a suspention lift. Also who makes a good lift for this truck. and any word on if hypertech is going to make a reprogramer for this truck.

Message: Upgrade to 3.92 and don't crank torsion bars. (bad for the CV joints),will cause premature wear.
For lifts just look in some off-road mags.
BFG's are good

Message: What is a good price to pay to go from 3.55 to 3.92? If I have a 2wd and want to run 31-32's after a body lift, would I need to regear the back to 3.92?
Thanks.

Message: To clear 33's without and rubbing at all or trimming.
3" Body Lift & 3" Susp. Lift
OR
5-6" Susp. Lift
You can get away with a 3" Body Lift but you will have a lil rubbing and may need to trim some AND you will need to crank your torsion bars. I have my bars cranks and no problems yet. Mnay other have drivin for 40,000 miles + and still no issues!
Im no expert, this is just info I have found from a lot of reading and question asking.

Message: I got a 98 5.2L CC with a 3" body lift, 33" MT/Rs, 4.10s, Auburn LSD, Hypertech programmer, 1/4" front wheel spacers, lots more bolt ons and I tow a 18' Toy Box that weights 5000 lbs.
Happy with what I got but wish I had the 4.7L.
