Message: For you guys who are putting the new Rancho lift on your trucks. You guys may want to get some torsion bar relocators. They have them for GM products but I'm sure they'd gladly make some for Dakotas if the demand is there. They are in Arizona so if any of you guys are in that area you may contact them and use your truck to measure. What their relocators do is put the torsion bar back to the stock mounting position so they aren't hanging down. Check them out:

Message: Not sure if you noticed in the Rancho design but the torsion bars run through the new drop brackets proctecting them pretty good so you wont hit them or land on them. But they do have some area's where exposure is clearly visible but they are somewhat protected froma hit in the middle of the bar.
I do see how this could help but wonder how they put them back at stock height.

Message: That is pretty interesting. Looks pretty solid. I am gonna look and see if that is possible space wise but with the bracket that they run through I do not think there is enough space for the torsion bar to raise up like that but you never know.

Message: Wow, I wasn't aware this was possible. Seems to me that if we installed this, we could remove the transmission crossbar drop down brackets and remount the transmission crossbar back up against the bottom of the truck. This would be a significant improvement in clearance.
Thanks for the info 4wDakota!

Message: Well, I just fired them off an email as to their current testing and production status. If this product will be available in the VERY near future, several weeks, I will be holding off on my install plan for this weekend to leave about 75lbs of hardware outta the final install with what this set-up looks to do. Like you said Wildhawk, should be able to avoid the tranny crossmember lowering with the Realift as well as no drop down for torsion bar crossmember too. Only need to move the TB crossmember back a couple inches to make up for the thickness of Realift components, much less work than the alternative.
Part of me hopes they are not ready to produce this product for our Daks anytime soon just so I don't have to agonize any longer without lift installed:) But the other part says, if I want to install a Realift when they are available and already have the Rancho kit installed I will be outta luck since trying to return the tranny crossmember to stock position after hacking most of the factory brackets off is not likely. For me it is not necessarily for extra ground clearance since my offroading is light(that is just a bonus for me), but to avoid completely relocating nearly the entire front half of the undercarriage.
If I here something back I will post here, otherwise I will be posting later this weekend on how the lift install went!

Message: Guys,
Not trying to dog this idea but you may want to look at the torsion bar area where they attach to the control arm then re-look at the design on the photo posted. Yes the design works for that truck but if you look at our trucks there is a support piece that looks to be right in the way of where that torsion bar fabbed pc would go. then the frame starts to drop off lower. Maybe they have away around this.
The idea is a good one. I have thought that maybe I may at some point hit my TB while wheelin! IF this is a possibility I would be interested but also still have questions about the design and Off road strength. That TB fabbed pc looks like it would make more tension on it.
I will take a photo of what I am talking about when the sun comes out more.

Maybe there is enough room for them to design something but it will be a little tight.
Extreme,
let us know what they say.

Message: Well, I didn't get a response today anyway(I know, no patience:)... so the lift install starts tomorrow afternoon, wish me luck. I'm getting outta work half day so it should be done by Sat afternoon if all goes well.
I see what you are talkin about in the pics, I'll assume if they are testing one right now they figured out a way around it but I can't sit on my lift any longer, maybe on my next Dak I'll try it out if they are available:)
