today i installed my two inch add-a-leaf in the rear and cranked up the torsions. everything went smoothly accept one part.

i got the leafs in and the torsions cranked up but the adjustments for the bars are not identicle. what i mean is that the truck is completely leveled accept one side's adjustment is maxed out and the other's still has plenty more to go. this is all while there is plenty of room for the control arm bumpers. nothing is binding and the arms are not resting on anything.

my question is, has anyone seen this? is there something i'm missing.

what did you do about it? did you leave it that way? so far it doesn't seem to be a problem.

I went to crank my torsion bars today, but I could not turn them. What do I need to do to turn the 15/16 bolts? They are not cranked all the way nor have they been touched since the truck was new.

you need to lift the front end off the ground. then use a 22mm socket on the end of a breaker bar. the bolts are pretty tight but will turn with a little effort.

I went down to the construction site by my house and grabbed a steel pipe that was about 3' long and could fit my rachet in the hole, with my truck on the ground i could turn those suckers, but i would jack the truck up in retrospect, much easier.

uh yeah, lifting it off the ground is good. lol

anyway, i had my truck racked up yesterday, two hours later, it was aligned. i also measured it again and compaired it to stock. five an a half inches of lift plus tires. WooHoo!

Now i dont know what side of your truck maxed first but, i noticed that my driver side sat higher from the factory, probably so the truck would be level with the driver in it, also the gas tank is on the drivers side, so there might be more adjustment for the extra weight that will always be on the drivers side. I dont know but that is what im guessing.

So the process to adjsut ride height via torsions is:

jack up truck
equal turns on both sides
drive a bit
check height to be sure it is the same on each side
then get it aligned? How critical is the alignment if you only raise the truck an inch or so?

an inch or lift from the torsion bars is a lot. you'll need to get it aligned.
